Hello and welcome, In this guide, we will tell you everything about Arma 3 – Basic UAV inventory and tactical for A3 Follow this guide for each steps.
Here you will find information on the A3’s UAV inventory basics as well as tactical employment choices.
Intro
UAV = Unmanned Autonomous Vehicle
UGV – Unmanned Ground Vehicle
Remotely operated vehicles without a human operator are referred to as “unmanned autonomous vehicles” (UAVs). They can be used in a variety of situations where having a human operator might be challenging, risky, or unfeasible. Each one has an internal computer that can decide for itself how to move to another location, identify enemies and allies, and other things.
There are three basic categories of UAV/UGV.
- Camera with zoom/NV/thermal is small, quiet and unarmed
- Small, quiet, unarmed camera with zoom/NV/thermal
- A 6X6 inch wheel drive that can carry a weapon mounted and a camera with zoom/NV/thermal.
Required Equipment for Operation
To operate a UAV, the following requirements must be met:
- Create a ‘terminal’ in your GPS Slot
- The terminal must match the faction (NATO/CSAT) of the UAV
- A UAV is available from your faction
SUAV/MUGV- Small UAV/Mini UGV
– A quadcopter (4 rotor blades)
– Unarmed
– Camera zoom/NVG/thermal
– Laser designator
– Tracked vehicle
– Mostly used to perform surveillance and reconnaissance
– Chemical (Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Nuclear defense (CBRN).
– Explosive Ordnance Disposal
– Sensors. A biopsy probe and a sample laser.
UGV for Mid-Size
Can be armed with the RCWS 12/7mm/40mm
Can perform reconnaissance & surveillance (R&S)
Used to transport supplies
UAV/UCAV
Large UAVs may include both fixed-winged and rotating A/C.
UCAV – Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle
Models include:
- Sentinel
- MQ-4A
- MQ-12
A3 Drone Operators
Each faction has many different UAV operators to choose:
- Drone operators may have a backpack with the disassembled aircraft (SUAVs only).
DLC Options
Some drone variants may be DLC dependent
- Jets – Sentinel
- Apex – Falcon/Fenghuang
- Laws of War-Pelican
- Contact – Email – ED-1
There are two types:
- DLCs – ‘OG’
- Updated free DLCs
- DLCs ‘Creator ‘
Options for Armament
All UAVs are capable:
- Laser beans are used to target.
- You should have at least one pylon (except for the Darter who has no pylons).
Here are some loadout options :
Falchion-22 – Short-ranged, air-to-air BLUFOR/INDFOR rocket (not reliable).
ASRAAM – Multi-faction, short-range air-to-air missile
Scalpel – Multi-faction air to-ground, anti tank guided missile. Other than its default infrared guide, it can also use manual or laser guidance modes.
Shrieker HE – BLUFOR/INDFOR air-to ground rocket for short range (soft-skinned vehicles).
Shrieker AP – BLUFOR/INDFOR small-range air-to ground rocket (Armor Piercing).
DAR – Multi-faction air-to–ground rocket with short range.
DAGR – A multi-purpose, low-range air-toground guided rocket for all factions. It can be guided by either laser or manual.
GBU-12 – BLUFOR/INDFOR general-purpose bomb. Laser guidance can be added to the target.
Mk82 – Free-falling gravity Bomb
CBU 85 – BLUFOR/INDFOR a cluster bomb. Laser guidance can be added to the target.
BL778 – BLUFOR/INDFOR BLUFOR/INDFOR bomb cluster. It can be laser-guided to a target
Macer II – Air to-ground BLUFOR/INDFOR antitank ballistic missile
CBU 85 – BLUFOR/INDFOR a cluster bomb. Laser guidance can be added to the target.
AGM88C HARM BLUFOR antiradiation ballistic missile. It has lock-on capability (LOAL).
GBU SDB – BLUFOR gliding bomb. Can lock onto laser spots. Tracks and uses infrared guidance as an alternative method of guidance.
UGV carry:
Remote Controlled Weapon Stations
- Intended for infantry, unarmoured/lightly-armoured vehicles and low-flying helicopters. Effective firing range: 800m, maximum 1,500m 600 RPM, 20 seconds to reload new box
- Intended for infantry, unarmoured/lightly-armoured vehicles and low-flying helicopters. Effective firing range: 800m, maximum 1,500m 600 RPM, 20 seconds to reload new box
Special Items
IED/Rifle variants
Plyon/Equipment Storage
Plyon platforms can be used to carry ordinance-carrying UAVs. There are many options for these platforms:
- 1 or 2 plyons available
- Template setting (Empty; custom; AT; CAS etc.)
- The ‘Mirror’ option allows you to set both the pylons to the exact same ordinance
UVA/UGVs are allowed to have limited supplies
Accessories
Laser Designator (handheld, remote)
This can be used for R&S and terminal guidance, target marking, security areas/bases, and so on. (‘E&’ and ‘Q&’ to raise/lower
Live Feed
If connected with a UAV. You can use a “live feed” (default 2XTAB button).
Guided munitions
You must ‘lock’ the target (R) Simple targets have a square target, locked targets have a diamond target, and a dashingline diamond box refers the target that is out of your field (FOV).
Press ‘R to cycle the targets and to open the target locking mechanism (TLS).
Piloting
UAV/UGV Pilots Follow the corresponding Vehicles
UAVs function in the same way as other flying objects (fixed-wing/rotary).
UGVs function in the same way as other ground vehicles.
Conclusion
There are 3 main UAV/UGV sizes.
- Small
- Medium
- large (UCAV).
Small UAVs don’t come equipped with weapons, but they do have lasers that can help with target/terminal guidance.
UGVs have the ability to perform R&S as well as supply/logistical functions
Large fixed-winged/rotary planes can perform CAS (Close Air Support); target/terminal guidance
All UAV/UGVs are equipped with night vision and thermal cameras. They can zoom in on and pan their camera.
