The game has 38 achievements, including 31 in the base game and 7 new ones introduced for the Ascension DLC. This achievement guidance is being provided because, as far as I’m aware, it hasn’t been done on Steam in English. This guide’s primary source of knowledge is PlayStation trophy data.

Story – Main Game

They are essential for the majority of the time. Additionally, descriptions and methods aren’t spoiled. Unless you’re comfortable with spoilers, staying clear of this section is best.

Eternal Return

HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT –

“Experience a new cycle of life after death”

Obtained by dying once in the game. It’s likely something you’ve heard about however, it is possible to unlock it.

Welcome Home

HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT

“Complete the first sequence of Houses”

In your trek through the Overgrown Ruins In the Overgrown Ruins, you’ll see an old house built in the 20th century. The house is locked, with the key hidden in a side room, which is located next to a triangular entrance on the minimap. Once you have the key, you can enter the house. The key will be yours for subsequent runs. As you progress in the game, more structures will appear.

Second Chance

HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT –

“Returned by an artifact.”

After you have completed the first house sequence, you will be presented with an Astronaut Figurine to purchase. Although you may not know the details about this item, it is extremely useful and will bring your life back should you pass away.

Failed Escape

HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT

“Finish Act 1”

You can unlock the Unlocked feature after completing the first half. Complete the Overgrown Ruins and the subsequent biomes.

Last Drive

HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT –

“Finish Act 2”

You can finish the remaining biomes to complete the second half.

Sins of the Mother

HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT

“Complete all House sequences.”

After obtaining the house key and going through the first house sequence, you can return to the house five times. 2 in the Overgrown Ruins if you continue to progress, and 3 in biome.

White Shadow

HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT

“Finish Act 3”

Major SUGGESTIONS INBOUND, DONT HOVER OVER BELOW TEXT.

You’re not far away from the finish line. Follow these steps to unlock this achievement:

1. Experience at least 5 house sequences: The fifth sequence should unlock after reaching biome 6.
2. Beat Ophion (the boss of biome 6 -: By defeating Ophion, it will create 6 Sunface fragments that cover the entire of Atropos.
3. Collect all 6 fragments: One biome fragment will be available on Atropos. They will always be spawned at the exact location and stored in your inventory to allow you to access them throughout your runs. They will be required to unlock the sixth and final house sequence.
4. You will unlock your car keys once you complete the sixth house sequence in biome 4.
5. Defeat Ophion again: Once Ophion has been killed twice, you can unlock a new secret cutscene by interacting with the car.

 

Main Game – Bosses

Returnal has 5 bosses in its six biomes. Each boss must be defeated only once to progress in the game, however, fights can be repeated. These achievements are not to be overlooked.
