How to Get The Great Slime Mitosis

The Great Slime Mitosis in Terraria is an achievement that requires all 9 town slimes to move in. Town slimes may move into a suitable home and share a house with another NPC.

What is a Town Slime?

A Town Slime can be considered a Town pet. Town pets are similar to NPCs, but they are not vendors. They can live in the same house with NPCs and can be petted. Town Slimes don’t affect NPC happiness, DO count towards the pylons, and DON’T have a preferred biome to live in. The main difference between Town Slimes and other Town Pets is that Town Slimes cannot be purchased from the Zoologist NPC. They can have 250 HP in total.

How to get each town slime

Each Town Slime can be obtained in a specific way. They can be received by

SQUIRE SLIME – Throw a Copper Shortsword, or a Copper Helmet at

NERDY SLIME – Spawns after King Slime has been defeated

COOL SLIME – Can move in during a naturally spawned active Party

CLUMSY SLIME: Can be found floating around and tied to a balloon. They can spawn never Floating Islands (. A Lifeform Analyzer ()) can detect them. Can be released by attacking the balloon

ELDER SLIME – Found underground in an Old Shaking Chest after defeating Skeletron. You can unlock the chest by using a Golden Key to free it. (can easily be detected using a Lifeform Analyzer)

SURLY SLIME – Can be caught up while fishing during a Blood Moon (. A Sonar Potion)  can detect this

MYSTIC SLIME: Spray Purification powder (sold by the Dryad NPC on the Mystic Frog critter. This causes it to become Mystic Slime. Mystic Frogs will die if Bug Net catches them. A Lifeform Analyzer can detect them, and a Hunter Potion. Mystic Frogs cannot spawn in the Jungle Surface

DIVA SLIME – Toss a Sparkle Slime Balloon (and a drop of the Queen Slime) into Shimmer. Once the Shimmer is incorporated, it will become the Diva Slime.

Fun facts about town slimes

• Town slimes don’t have an alternate look when soaked with shimmer
• To include the Town Slimes in the Bestiary, they must be petted
• Gastropods, Halloween slimes, and other Halloween slimes don’t work on turning them into Squire Slimes.
• To get the Princess NPC, -Town slimes are not required.
• Cool slimes can only move in by NATURALLY SPAWNED Parties. The Party Center will not work.

NERDY SLIME – “Just a little cleverer than other slimes. This slime discovered how humans can coexist with it.” Accessorizing is the key!

SURLY SLIME – “Irascible, insufferable, this grumpy sludge is probably up to no good.” Probably. It is the thought that counts.”

ELDER SLIME– “Older, but not necessarily wiser, other slimes look up at the Elder Slime.” It must have known something if it had survived so long!

DIVA SLIME – “Born from the combined energies of Shimmer and Queen Slime, this slime has boundless energy and enthusiasm!” It’s so fancy!

MYSTIC SLIME– “This slime knows great witches wear impressive headdresses, but it only found one that was droopy.” This might explain the backfired polymorph!

SQUIRE SLIME – “A hero amongst slimes it wields some of the most powerful arms and armor of its kind.” Although it doesn’t know how to use them, it can make a start.
