DSOD Viable LMG Builds

Intro

In this guide I will showcase 4 builds, with no DLC and no Infamy options available. They all use LMGs and focus on being a tank. At the end of the guide I will list some basic tips and my reasoning for certain things. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback, as both are greatly appreciated.

Silenced vs Unsilenced LMGs

The skill “the professional” gives you increased accuracy and stability on weapons that have a silencer attached. Considering that LMGs need all the help they can get in that department, I definitely recommend taking this skill. However, there are a few exceptions. The KSP 58, the KSP, and the Buzzsaw have lower base damage than the others. If you put a silencer on them, then with body expertise aced it takes 5 body shots to kill a SWAT heavy on death sentence or death wish. However, if you put a damage boosting attachment like the competitor’s compensator or the stubby compensator, it only takes 4 shots to the body to kill a heavy. Of course, this only really matters on death wish or death sentence, so feel free to use a silencer on the weapons I mentioned if you’re playing below those difficulties.

Building LMGs

When modding out your LMG, you want to focus on stability first, accuracy second, and damage third. Concealment does not matter. If you’re using a silencer, the best one is The Bigger The Better Suppressor. If you aren’t using a silencer, Competitor’s Compensator is defintely the way to go. If you don’t have any DLC, the Stubby Compensator on the KSP 58 reaches enough damage to hit the 4 shot threshold. Laser sights are very useful in general, but especially so on LMGs since they don’t have the ability to look down the sights to aim.

Armorer (Infamy required, DLC Optional)

Any LMG of your choice, plus a grenade launcher modded any way except fire or shock rounds. For the melee I chose the buzzer for taking jokers, but the electrical brass knuckles are more or less identical.

If you don’t want to use a silenced LMG, drop the professional and transporter and you can get swan song.

Armorer (No Infamy or DLC Required)

Who needs DLC anyway? Certainly not this build. The KSP 58 can still break banks without making you break yours. If you have infamy, remove painkillers basic and replace it with transporter basic.

Sociopath (DLC and Infamy Required)

Now for my personal favorite build.

You can bring any silenced LMG you like, I usually swap between the Brenner and the RPK. Melee is mainly for dozers, but your LMG also takes care of them pretty well. Grenade launcher can be modded any way you want, just not electric or fire rounds.

If you really want inspire aced, you can drop silencer skills and stable shot. If you do that, exchange the suppressor for a competitor’s compensator. Bullseye isn’t as useful on sociopath due to gaining armor for every kill, but it’s still nice to have around, and it helps with dozers. Speaking of dozers, I recommend you save your melee damage boost for them, since it’s faster to kill them with melee than with your LMG.

Here’s a version of the previous build that does not require infamy. You can drop the 2nd joker for bloodthirst aced + transporter basic if you like.

Notes About the Builds

You may be wondering why I went for inspire basic instead of aced. The reason why is because all of these builds are very tanky, and with die hard + combat medic you gain a 65% damage reduction while reviving someone. I feel like most of the skills are self explanatory, but if you have any questions about why I did what I did, please let me know in the comments.

Tips for Armorer

Despite initial appearances, armorer is actually a very strong perk deck. Extra armor combined with 2 seconds of invincibility when your armor breaks (albeit with a 15 second cooldown) makes for an extremely tanky playstyle. You can use the 2 seconds to finish an interaction, revive somebody, run to cover, or get a headshot to proc bullseye. Bear in mind that you’re not invincible, especially on higher difficulties. But if you play cautiously, you will find yourself almost never going down.

Tips for Sociopath

Sociopath is my favorite perk deck in the game. It has the power to tank and the ability to armor gate by getting kills. Most people will never play it because of how it’s unlocked, but it’s definitely viable even on death sentence. It’s important to note that although you have boosts to your melee, you will not use it very often. I typically only use it for dozers, and even then the LMGs do that very well.
