This guide is for those people who have some problems running the game.

Before you continue reading…

This MIGHT NOT WORK for everyone!

I’ve seen some people try out these fixes and some of them reported that it did not fix anything with their game. If some of the stuff doesn’t work for you, please wait until Crytek does something about the performance issues this game has.

If you can, please report the performance issue(s) you’re having HERE – [reddit.com]  so Crytek can (hopefully) fix it.

Thank you!

In-game settings

I’ve been messing around with settings a little bit, and I found that this worked for me the best.

Changing both “Render Resolution Scale” and “Video Memory (VRAM) Usage Target” to 90 and 90% seemed to help out a lot, rarely ever decreasing my fps below 60 without any visual difference.

The only thing that I did notice was my game dropping my fps to 57 once or twice for a split second in the first Hunt game, but later on it works just fine.

Now, I’ve lessened that blurry effect from lowering the resolution scale by changing the “Image Sharpening” setting in my NVIDIA Control Panel, however, there are two problems with this.

The first problem is that the new driver update for NVIDIA GPU’s changed this setting into “Image Scaling”, which does not work for Hunt. (and many other games)

That means, in order to use this feature, you’ll have to downgrade your GPU drivers.

I don’t know at what version was it exactly removed, but I’m currently using 496.13 and it’s still there.

The second problem is that I’ve only personally worked with NVIDIA and Intel-type computers.

I don’t know how to do this on AMD computers, so I’d advise googling it. Sorry!

That option is located here.

I’ve changed it to “Sharpen 0.50, ignore film grain 1.00”.

You can freely change this option (and the resolution scale option) as you see fit.

Another thing that helped me a bit is enabling “Use 2 Pass Scene Rendering” and “Use 2 Pass Lighting” in the “Advanced Settings” tab.

Somehow, the game runs worse for me with these two options off.

Disabling Steam Overlay

It might sound dumb or unbelievable, but this helped out a ton for some people (including me).

I’d usually get around 45-55 fps with the overlay on, but ever since I’ve turned it off, I’ve been getting a consistent 57-65 fps.

Be warned that disabling the Steam Overlay will forbid you from inviting friends.

Have at least one friend with the overlay on and ALT+TAB to accept invites.

1. Right click Hunt: Showdown in your steam library

2. Click “Properties”

3. Untick “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”

Deleting the “User” folder

This is a fix that has been shown in the Hunt: Showdown Official Discord Serverâ„¢ – [discord.gg] .

It helps with stuttering and visual glitches, however it is more tedious to do because your settings will reset every time you delete it.

I’d recommend screenshotting your settings before doing this or doing the fix below this one instead.

1. Right click Hunt: Showdown in your steam library

2. Click “Properties…”

3. Click “Local Files” on the side of the “Properties” window.

4. Click “Browse…”

5. Delete the “User” folder.

Deleting the “Shaders” folder inside the “User” folder

This method is less effective, but it should still work.

This will not delete your settings.

1. Right click Hunt: Showdown in your steam library

2. Click “Properties…”

3. Click “Local Files” on the side of the “Properties” window.

4. Click “Browse…”

5. Open the “User” folder.

6. Delete the “Shaders” folder.

Do this fix every time you experience fps drops/stuttering/visual bugs & glitches.

Not alt+tabbing/shift+tabbing while in a match and loading into a match

I saw a guide – [steamcommunity.com]  explaining this, and it seems to be pretty true in my case.

Now, from what I’ve personally experienced, if you alt+tab/shift+tab while in a match or a loading screen before a match, your game will run worse.

As far as I know, It does not affect the main menu, so you can freely alt+tab/shift+tab while in the lobby.

Not changing the graphics settings while in a match

Another guide – [steamcommunity.com]  tip that I’ve seen and tested, and it was true.

Changing the graphics settings while in a match will make the game perform a bit worse than usual.

It only affects the graphics settings and not any other settings, so you can freely change everything else.

I’d highly recommend changing them in the main menu and not during a match.

A more obvious fix

This should go without saying, but if you don’t have a machine capable of running Hunt: Showdown, then of course you’re going to have FPS and stuttering issues.

The end

If any of these fixes work, please show it to more people so they can have good performance playing this game.

If they don’t, please wait until Crytek fixes the performance issues.

I’ll try to keep updating this guide if i find any more fixes.

Thank you for reading this guide!
