Alchemy basics, fast access to potion recipies.
 
 

Introduction

Potions in Terraria can be crafted from your inventory. You just need some ingredients and a propper crafting station:
 

•    Placed bottle( just put bottle, any kind of cup or mug on a shelf or table).
   
   
   
     
•    Alchemy table( it can be find in dungeon after defeating skeletron, also when you craft potions, using alchemy table, you have 33,33% chance for each ingredient to not be consumed).

Recovery potions

There are also Super Healing Potion and Super Mana Potion, but I personally think Greater versions of these potions are good enough.
 
 
 

Buff potions: combat

These 3 potions are the most important among all buff potions. You should always have some of them in your inventory. They are also a rare drop from killing slimes.

The following potions are very useful during boss fights. If you have hard time defeating bosses try using these potions. The fight should be a lot easier.

	Heartreach Potion		Increases pickup range for life hearts	8 min
	Rage Potion		Increases critical chance by 10%	4 min
	Summoning Potion		Increases your max number of minions by 1	8 min
	Thorns Potion		Attackers also take damage	8 min
	Wrath Potion		Increases damage by 10%	4 min

Buff potions: open world

There you have potions that will help you explore world, mine, build, obtain resources, etc.

	Obsidian Skin Potion		Provides immunity to lava	6 min
	Hunter Potion		Shows the location of enemies	8 min
	Dangersense Potion		Allows you to see nearby danger sources	10 min
	Recall Potion		Teleports the player to their spawn point.	—-
	Wormhole Potion		Teleports the player to a teammate when they click their icon on the map.	—-
	Potion of Return		Teleports the player to their spawn point, and creates a portal to return to their previous location.	—-
	Teleportation Potion		Teleports the player to a random location within the world.	—-

Buff potions: Fishing

Potions listed bellow are essential if you want to catch better fish or focus mostly on getting crates.

	Shiverthorn	Found in snow, blooms over time
	Fireblossom	Found in underworld, blooms during sunset unless raining
	Mushroom	Found on grass and hallowed grass on the surface
	Glowing mushroom	Found underground, on mushroom grass in the glowing mushroom biome
	Cactus	Found in desert, on the surface

	Damselfish	Fishing in any biome in the Space layer, with the exception of the Corruption, the Crimson, the Hallow, the Snow biome, the Desert, or the Jungle
	Double Cod	Fishing in the Sky or Surface layers of the Jungle
	Ebonkoi	Fishing in the Corruption in any layer
	Flarefin Koi	Fishing in any biome in any layer, but only in lava
	Frost Minnows	Fishing in a Snow biome in any layer
	Hemopiranha	Fishing in the Crimson in any layer
	Obsidifish	Fishing in any biome in any layer, but only in lava
	Princess Fish	Fishing in the Hallow in any layer
	Prismites	Fishing in the Hallow in any layer
	Specular Fish	Fishing in a Forest, Jungle or Snow biome in the Underground, Cavern, and Underworld layers

Different ingredients

	Amber	Acquired by placing Silt, Slush, or Desert Fossil into an Extractinator, by finding an Amber Gem Tree, or by searching through Underground Deserts
	Cobweb	Found in underground areas
	Crispy Honey Block	Formed when liquid honey comes into contact with lava, it can also be crafted using Honey Block at a furnace
	Coral	Found in the Ocean
	Iron/lead ore	Found on the Surface, Underground and Cavern layers
	White/Black/Pink Pearl	Acquired from opening Oyster (It is acquired by fishing in an Oasis biome)
	Ladybug	Found in Forests with a town (2 or more NPCs’ houses) during the Windy Day event (not at night). It can be caught with a Bug Net
	Fallen Star	Randomly falls from the sky at night and disappears at dawn (4:30 AM)
	Obsidian	Created when Water and Lava collide, at which point it forms placed blocks of Obsidian which can be mined and collected
	Gold/platinum ore	Found in the Underground and Cavern layers, as well as on Floating Islands
