This guide will help you locate all 16 Clockwork Castellans. It also unlocks your Primal Knife, Stranger.

Castellan Locations by Chapter

There are 16 Clockwork Castellans in Resident Evil 4 Remake, one in each chapter. The ability to purchase the Primal Knife at the market can be obtained by eliminating all 16 of them. It is upgradeable to indestructible after being fully upgraded. Here’s a quick overview of the location of each Castellan.

Castellan 1 (Chapter 1):

A large building is situated in the lakeside settingtlment where you will first encounter some dynamite-carrying Ganados prior to meeting Luis. To enter you have to jump through an opening. In the ceiling’s rafters there is your first Castellan!

Castellan 2 (Chapter 2):

This Castellan is easy to find. Right before you get to the village chief’s house, there’s a structure with both an informational note concerning the clockwork dolls and the second one in plain view.

Castellan 3 (Chapter 3):

In the store’s hideout, which includes the shooting range, you are able to climb down the ladder. Follow this route before turning left. A small alleyway will lead to an end of a barrel. Smash the barrel, then search for. The Castellan is well hidden. It could be difficult to see, but the sound of it will be clear.

Castellan 4 (Chapter 4):

After purchasing a brand new boat, you can return to the lakeside settlement where you first found Luis. Now with the insignia keys, you are able to open a gate previously locked. Do this. Head up the ladder and find the area where the sacrifice was made in the beginning of the game. On the opposite side of the poor victim is a half fence area. You can observe Castellan on the left shooting through the fence.

Castellan 5 (Chapter 5 – :

Now that you have Ashley and you are ready to move through the village before returning to the Chief’s house. Boost Ashley up the ladder in the Chief’s bed and climb up. The castellan is hidden in the corner next to the chess board.

Castellan 6 (Chapter 6):

Before you enter the chekpoint arena (where Leon says it’s too quiet) you’ll come across a little cliffside with a large bonfire. At the foot of the flame is your tiny Castellan. Eliminate him.

Castellan 7 (Chapter 7):

After dealing with the Garrador in the dungeon ascend a step ladder and enter into a storage area. The Castellan is on the top of one of these shelves.

Castellan 8 (Chapter 8):]

When you get to the top of the battlements and the El Gigante starts throwing rocks at you instead of hopping down to the left and proceeding along the main road then jump to the right side of the battlement. This Castellan is waiting for a quick shot.

Castellan 9 (Chapter 9):

Continue to the left at the beginning of the maze. It’s hidden in a corner you otherwise dont need to go to in the maze. See the Map image for the best illustration.

Castellan 10 (Chapter 10 – :

After climbing out of the depths, just before Verdugo is where you’ll find the Merchant. A sewer pipe is right opposite the Merchant. This Castellan is hidden within it!

Castellan 11 (Chapter 11):

Halfway through the minecart journey, Luis allows you to leave to join a second cart. There is a small building that has a few Ganados before you go. This is the Castellan’s Building that is on top of your door frame.

Castellan 12 (Chapter 12):

In the Clocktower causes a cutscene to be played with Salazar and a host of enemies that will attempt to take you down. The Castellan is located on the ground floor, to the left. It is easy to swipe it with your knife, too!

Castellan 13 (Chapter 13):

After the initial fight on the island There is an intersection on the road. To the left is the way you continue your main story. To the right are two massive double doors that you will not be able to open. There is also an enemy group with a rocket launcher. Take them out. The Castellam is hidden between two forklift trucks and a truck. (There’s also a cute crown for the a*s near by)

Castellan 14 (Chapter 14):

After losing Ashley in the Amber room, you are left with two choices. Choose the right one. Stealth kill the crossbow slinger and continue to the left. The Castellan is located on the top of an unassuming locker.

Castellan 15 (Chapter 15):

After you’ve battled through the cliffside ruin, Mike tells you he knows a good place to get a bar before turning the wheel to make a the storage of specimens. There is a small room in the side. The Castellan is located high in the rafters.

Catellan 16 (Chapter 16):

After the defeat of Saddler After defeating Saddler, escape. You will be taken to a vast room where enemies are crawling about on the floor. The final Castellan is located on the right side. The forklift can serve as a compass to locate it on top of the container.
