Hey there, welcome to this post, we hope you find our The Forest – How to increase your field of view Guide to be useful.
Have you ever wanted to play with a FOV that is higher than 95? This guide will show how to increase or lower the FOV limit of The Forest.
This guide will demonstrate how to increase or decrease the FOV in The Forest. The FOV is capped at 60 degrees at a minimum and 95 degrees by default. If you want to use values that are not within the range, you will need to edit the game’s file.
To increase the FOV limit, you’ll have edit the game’s files and modify the code.
This can be done with

and scroll all the way down to the and then scroll to the download links. Click dnSpy-net-win64.zip to extract all files into a folder of choice. After you have finished the fix, you can erase these files again.
You’ll now need to start dnSpy.exe, then continue with the next steps.
Open the game files
We’re now going to open the game file that needs to be edited.
Start your “The Forest” game directory and navigate to: The Forest/TheForest_Data/Managed .
You can open the directory by right-clicking The Forest under Steam -> Properties, Local Files, Browse …)
You’ll find many files ending in.dll within the Managed directory. It’s only necessary to edit Assembly-CSharp.dll.
Drag and drop the file into dnSpy, which will open it.
Editing the FOV limit
Here’s the tricky part. We’re going to edit the code that restricts the FOV values in the menu.
This class is called “MenuOptions”. This class is “MenuOptions”.
You can find this class on the left side of dnSpy’s under “Assembly-CSharp” -> “Assembly-CSharp.dll” -> ” -” -> “MenuOptions”
You must now decompile or edit the method CopySettingsFromGUI(). To do this, open the MenuOptions and then right click on CopySettingsFromGUI(). Select Edit Method (C#)… in the context menu.
You can now edit the code within the new popup. You’ll need to locate the following code line (should be located around line 160 – :
These values define the limits of the FOV slider. The left value (35 default) is a range, while the right value (60 default) is the minimum. If you add both of these numbers, you’ll get the maximum FOV value (60 + 35 = 95 – .
Let’s say that we would like to establish the minimum FOV to 90 and an maximum FOV of 130. We need to set the minimum (right value) to 90 and the range to 40 (90 + 40 = 130 ) – as in this:
Click “Compile” at the bottom of the popup once you’ve changed the values.
But that’s just not the case. We need to repeat this process for a different function.
This time we’ll modify the OnChangePreset(). Right click it and select Edit Method (C#)… once more.
Scroll down to line 470 and look for this code.
Simply insert the same values you’ve used before (90 and 40 in out example). Click “Compile” in the bottom after you’ve changed your settings.
The final thing you’ll need to do is save the modifications. Click the Save button on the toolbar, which is illustrated below:
Click OK to open the dialog that appears.
