Introduction

Installing dnSpy

and scroll all the way down to the and then scroll to the download links. Click dnSpy-net-win64.zip to extract all files into a folder of choice. After you have finished the fix, you can erase these files again.

You’ll now need to start dnSpy.exe, then continue with the next steps.

Open the game files

We’re now going to open the game file that needs to be edited.

Start your “The Forest” game directory and navigate to: The Forest/TheForest_Data/Managed .

You can open the directory by right-clicking The Forest under Steam -> Properties, Local Files, Browse …)

You’ll find many files ending in.dll within the Managed directory. It’s only necessary to edit Assembly-CSharp.dll.

Drag and drop the file into dnSpy, which will open it.

Editing the FOV limit

Here’s the tricky part. We’re going to edit the code that restricts the FOV values in the menu.

Click “Compile” at the bottom of the popup once you’ve changed the values.

But that’s just not the case. We need to repeat this process for a different function.

This time we’ll modify the OnChangePreset(). Right click it and select Edit Method (C#)… once more.

Scroll down to line 470 and look for this code.

Simply insert the same values you’ve used before (90 and 40 in out example). Click “Compile” in the bottom after you’ve changed your settings.

The final thing you’ll need to do is save the modifications. Click the Save button on the toolbar, which is illustrated below:
