Hi.
Me sell hats. Okay, poke?

Come to old old old haus, poke. Bring coines.

The Blacksmith serves as a location for purchasing coal and ores (copper, iron, & gold), upgrading tools, and breaking open geodes. It also is the home of blacksmith Clint.

Open Hours: 9:00am to 4:00pm

Selling

Similar to how it is possible to sell crops directly to Pierre, it is also possible to sell gems, minerals, ore, and bars directly to Clint. Note that Clint will not buy any kind of geodes.

Upgrade Tools

Clint can upgrade your tools incrementally. The Pickaxe, Axe, Hoe, Trash Can in the inventory menu, and Watering Can can all be upgraded 4 times. It takes 2 days to upgrade a tool. While Clint is upgrading a tool, Blacksmith services are unavailable.

The Blacksmith is closed on festival days, except for the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies in the Summer, and the Spirit’s Eve festival in the Fall. If you drop a tool off the day before a festival it will be ready the day after the festival.

A notification will pop up on the left side of the screen on the morning a tool upgrade is ready.

All axe and pickaxe upgrades reduce the number of hits necessary to remove trees and rocks. In addition:

  • The copper axe allows you to break the large stumps on your farm. It reduces the hits needed to chop down trees.
  • The steel axe allows you to break the logs on your farm.
  • The steel pickaxe allows you to break the large rocks on your farm.
  • The gold pickaxe allows you to break any meteorites that land on your farm.
  • Upgraded versions of the watering can and hoe allow the player to water and till multiple squares of land in a single use (using click-and-hold).

Process Geodes

You can pay Clint to break open geodes for you. You’ll find Gems and Minerals within, as well as common resources like Stone, Clay, and Coal.

If the sell price of the item inside the geode is Stardew Valley - Merchants
75g or less, you will hear a “clink” sound when it is broken open. Otherwise, you will hear a short melody, and the item will sparkle.

Artifact Troves can be purchased from the Desert Trader for 5 Omni Geodes. Clint will break these open like a geode, but instead of minerals you’ll find artifacts or treasures inside.

Tips

  • During year 1, it’s cheaper to buy wood from the Carpenter’s Shop and use a Charcoal Kiln to make your own coal than it is to buy coal from the Blacksmith’s. Starting in year 2, the price of wood increases from Stardew Valley - Merchants
10g to Stardew Valley - Merchants
50g, so it is cheaper to purchase coal.
  • In order to avoid missing a day of watering, water your crops then start the upgrade to your Watering Can when the weather report indicates rain the next day. Your plants will be watered that day by yourself, the following day by the rain, and you can pick up the can the day after that. You can also upgrade your watering can near the end of a season, if you know you have nothing in the ground that will bear fruit.
  • At Mining Skill 7, it is cheaper to purchase Iron Ore, smelt Iron Bars, and use the Transmute (Au) recipe to create Gold Bars than it is to purchase Gold Ore and smelt it into Gold Bars. This also cuts the smelting time from 5h to 2h per Furnace. This saves you Stardew Valley - Merchants
350g per Gold Bar in the first year and Stardew Valley - Merchants
1,000g per Gold Bar in year 2+.

Carpenter’s Shop

Stardew Valley - Merchants - Carpenter's Shop
The Carpenter’s Shop is located in the Mountain area north of Pelican Town. Robin is the town carpenter and runs the shop, which is inside her home where she lives with Demetrius, Maru, and Sebastian. The shop is open most days from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Robin sells furniture, and she can upgrade the Farmhouse and construct new farm buildings. She also buys and sells wood and stone (and buys clay). She will begin construction the day after buildings are purchased, but she does not work on festival days. Most construction projects are finished in 2 days (by the start of the second day after you place an order).

Open Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm

Closed: Tuesday, and at 4:00pm Friday

Address: 24 Mountain Road

Occupants: Stardew Valley - Merchants
Robin; Stardew Valley - Merchants
Demetrius; Stardew Valley - Merchants
Sebastian; Stardew Valley - Merchants
Maru.

Shop Closure

The house is accessible from 9:00am to 8:00pm every day, even when the shop is closed.

The shop is closed on Tuesdays (except when it rains), as Robin goes to Pierre’s General Store to exercise with Caroline, Jodi, Emily, and Marnie. However, she walks past the sales counter at 9:40am on her way. If you enter before then and use the counter just as she passes, you can still shop at that time. Similarly, Robin returns home at 7:50pm, and you can also use the counter as she enters her home and passes the sales counter.

The shop closes at 4:00pm on Fridays, when Robin and Demetrius go to The Stardrop Saloon. If you enter the house before 4:00pm but miss her during open hours, you can still shop if you catch her as she passes the sales counter on the way out, just as on Tuesday mornings.

The shop is always closed on Thursday, Summer 18, when Robin goes to Harvey’s Clinic. She leaves the Clinic at 4pm to walk home, and passes the sales counter at approximately 5:50pm, when you can shop as she passes.

The shop is also closed on all festival days. If she was still working on a job for you on the day before, then these closures will delay the job completion by one day. However, Robin does work on regular Tuesdays when she already has a job lined up, so there is no delay in that case.

The shop is closed all day any day that she is working on a job at your farm.

Casino

Stardew Valley - Merchants - Casino

To the top-left of the room is a terminal that lists multiple statistics for the player.

There are two forms of gambling available, slot machines and a variant of BlackJack, CalicoJack. There are two tables for CalicoJack, low stakes (Stardew Valley - Merchants

Fish Shop

Stardew Valley - Merchants - Fish Shop
Fish Shop is the home of Willy. It’s located on the docks of the Beach, south of Pelican Town. If the player has not read the mail from Willy sent on Spring 2, then this shop cannot be entered. Although the door will unlock on Saturdays, the shop will be closed unless it is raining.

Willy offers a variety of fishing supplies inside, including rods, bait, tackle and crab pots, and more goods become available as the player increases their fishing skill. These items can be bought from the shop as soon as the appropriate skill level is achieved, without needing to wait until the next day. Willy will also buy fish or shells when he’s behind the counter.

Open Hours: 9am to 5pm

Closed: Non-rainy Saturdays (Building Open, no sales)

Occupants: Stardew Valley - Merchants
Willy

Player-Derived Stock

If the player chooses to sell items to Willy, there is a chance they will appear in the list of items for sale, especially if sold to Willy in large quantity. Any of these items will be available for purchase in limited quantities. Additional villager dialogues may appear indicating they’ve seen or purchased the items.

Trivia

Interacting with the ladder at the back of the shop results in a message that suggests Willy lives upstairs.

Harvey’s Clinic

Stardew Valley - Merchants - Harvey's Clinic
Harvey’s Clinic is located in the center of Pelican Town, next to Pierre’s General Store. Harvey lives and works at the clinic. Maru works there on Tuesday and Thursday. Both of them often complain about the lack of patients.

Most villagers will visit the clinic for their annual checkup. George and Evelyn visit the clinic once per season.

Although you can enter the Clinic most days between 9am and 3pm, you cannot purchase medical supplies unless Maru or Harvey is behind the supplies counter.

Open Hours: 9:00am to 3:00pm

Ice Cream Stand

Stardew Valley - Merchants - Ice Cream Stand
The Ice Cream Stand is located directly to the east of the bridge leading towards the blacksmith shop and the museum. It is only open in the Summer, from Thursday to Tuesday when the weather is clear and when Alex is behind the counter, which is from 1pm to 5pm. When it is open, Ice Cream can be purchased, and Haley can often be found next to the stand, making it a good place to look for her during the summer.

If your character marries Alex he will no longer work there and you will no longer be able to get Ice Cream. Haley will still go to the shop if you marry Alex.

Open Hours: 1pm to 5pm

Closed: Wednesday • Stardew Valley - Merchants

Address: Next to the museum

Occupants: Stardew Valley - Merchants
Alex

Bug

If you park your horse behind the ice cream stand when nobody is there it will allow you to buy ice cream.

JojaMart

Stardew Valley - Merchants - JojaMart
JojaMart is a store owned by the player’s previous employer, “Joja Corporation”. Morris manages the store and handles customer service. He can be found inside the kiosk at the bottom right of the store, where he will offer the player a JojaMart Membership for Stardew Valley - Merchants
5,000g. Membership is available once the Community Center is unlocked.

Purchasing a Joja Membership from Morris causes the Community Center to be destroyed and replaced with a Joja Warehouse. The player can then purchase community development projects through the Joja Community Development Form, rather than through completing bundles in the Community Center.

Open Hours: 9:00am to 11:00pm

Closed: After the player completes the Community Center

Address: North of Blacksmith

Occupants: Stardew Valley - Merchants
Morris

Prices

The cost of seeds, Grass Starter, Sugar, Wheat Flour, and Rice at JojaMart are higher than at Pierre’s General Store, with one exception: Sunflower Seeds are Stardew Valley - Merchants
125g at JojaMart, and Stardew Valley - Merchants
200g at Pierre’s. After the player purchases a Joja membership, prices are the same as at Pierre’s (with the exception of Sunflower Seeds, which sell for Stardew Valley - Merchants
200g at Pierre’s. After the player purchases a Joja membership, prices are the same as at Pierre’s (with the exception of Sunflower Seeds, which sell for Stardew Valley - Merchants
100g at Joja).

The prices of Joja Cola, the J. Cola Light, Wallpaper (including Joja wallpaper) and Flooring do not change after purchasing a Joja membership.

Trivia

  • On Fridays (before the Community Center is complete) Jodi may say, “The food at JojaMart might not be the healthiest for my family, but with such low prices you’d be crazy to shop anywhere else!” even though most items are more expensive at JojaMart than at Pierre’s.
  • The Steam achievement “Joja Co. Member Of The Year” requires purchasing all of the Joja Community Development Form projects, which takes at least six days; one day to build the Joja Warehouse after purchasing a Joja membership, and one day each for the five projects.
  • The ‘Joja’ logo has a striking similarity to WatchMojo’s, a popular corporate youtube channel.

Bugs

If the player purchases a JojaMart membership after completing the Community Center, but before triggering the Community Center completion ceremony cutscene, the cutscene may become glitched, with the player stuck in boxes that were not previously there.

Notes

  • Marnie won’t sell animals if the building associated is under construction or during an upgrade.
  • It is possible to see what color animal you will receive before paying for it. When asked to select which building your animal will stay in, the note at the top of the screen will reveal which color the animal it is. Canceling the purchase at that point will return you to the purchase menu.

Night Market

Stardew Valley - Merchants - Night Market
The Night Market is a festival that occurs between the 15th and 17th of Winter. Various boats and merchants will appear at the docks on The Beach, and offer to sell goods or take the player for a boat ride. The Night Market is open between 5pm and 2am, but the Submarine Ride closes at 11pm, and the Mermaid Boat closes at 12:30am.

Unlike other festivals, shops and homes throughout Stardew Valley (including the beach) are not closed on the days of the Night Market, and time continues to pass during the festival. Animals also need to be fed during the Night Market event; the game will not automatically consider them to be fed as with other Festivals.

Attractions

Desert Trader

The Desert Trader will give the player a free cup of coffee each night.

Decoration Boat

The blue boat between the docks sells a variety of purely aesthetic decorations, some of which change with the seasons. Players can purchase an unlimited number of each decoration. Decorations can be placed indoors or outdoors.

The Decoration Boat is the only place where the candy cane decorations can be purchased. Seasonal Decor and the Seasonal Plants can be purchased at other festivals/shops.

Famous Painter Lupini

Famous Painter Lupini sells a different painting each day of the Night Market for Stardew Valley - Merchants
1,200g. The paintings rotate over a 3-year schedule, for a total of 9 paintings.

Fishing Submarine

The Submarine houses a Captain who offers to take the player on a deep-sea fishing tour for Stardew Valley - Merchants
1,000g. Upon accepting, the submarine will descend for a while then open a trapdoor to allow the player to fish. The descent and ascent take approximately 30 minutes in-game time. When you are ready to go back up, simply talk to the Captain again. Alternatively you can use a Warp Totem to leave, maximizing fishing time.

Three fish can only be caught here: the Midnight Squid, Spook Fish, and Blobfish. Seaweed, Sea Cucumber, Octopus, and Super Cucumber can also be caught in the submarine ride. There is also a rare chance to catch a Pearl while fishing here.

Magic Shop Boat

The magic shop boat is located to the right of Famous Painter Lupini. It sells decorative items, seeds, a unique hat, and a unique fireplace, with different stock each night. Each item may be purchased in unlimited quantities. Seed sell prices are the same as at Pierre’s General Store.

Note that Garlic Seeds, Red Cabbage Seeds, and Artichoke Seeds are not available until game year 2. Note also that the price of the Cone Hat changes over the 3 days of the Night Market, with the lowest price occurring on Day 2. The Grave Stone sold on Day 1 costs Stardew Valley - Merchants
50g less at the Night Market than it does at the Spirit’s Eve Festival. The Log Section sold on Day 3 costs Stardew Valley - Merchants
150g less at the Night Market than it does at the Carpenter’s Shop.

Rarecrows #7 and #8 can be purchased only after earning the first ones by donating items to the Museum.

Mermaid Boat

The Mermaid Boat is open from 5pm to 12:30am. Upon entering, a mermaid will appear and begin singing to the player, accompanied by a cutscene. Her performance lasts 1 hour and 40 mins, but the player may leave at any time.

After the show, clam shells inside the boat can be clicked to play musical notes. Playing the correct notes in the correct sequence will award the player a special item.

The correct sequence of musical notes can be found in Secret Note #15, although finding the secret note is not required to complete the sequence. The tune played during the mermaid show also indicates the solution. Click below to see the solution and information about the special item awarded.

Solution

When played in the order 1-5-4-2-3 (left to right), the player will be awarded with a Pearl. Only one Pearl can be obtained in the Mermaid Boat by each player per each saved game, but the Mermaid Show can be viewed repeatedly by exiting and re-entering the boat at any time. There are also other ways of obtaining Pearls which are unaffected by obtaining this Pearl.

Shrouded Figure

The Shrouded Figure offers to teleport the player back to their farm for Stardew Valley - Merchants
250g.

Traveling Cart

The Traveling Cart makes an appearance at the docks with her cart on a raft. She sells a selection of her usual items, including the Wedding Ring recipe.

Mail

“Starting tomorrow, a traveling merchant fleet will dock at Pelican Town for the yearly night market.
The market starts at 5pm, and will be in port for the next three days.

Please visit the beach after 5pm to join the festivities. There’s free coffee!”

Notes

  • Since the game uses a unique beach map during festival days, items a player has placed on the beach (crab pots, chests, etc.) may disappear during the Night Market. These items should return on Winter 18.
  • Similarly, Crab Pots and other items placed on the beach during the Night Market will disappear on Winter 18. (They may or may not return the following year.)
  • Additionally, items that can usually be foraged above-ground on the Beach will be unavailable due to the event. Tilling sand will still yield the usual clay, snow yams, and winter roots.
  • Shimmering lights may appear in the water, and the Copper Pan can be used on them to obtain ores, gems, etc.

Trivia

  • Fishing while the merchant fleet is present can cause obstruction to fishing, but there are a couple spots where you can still fish. However, fishing while the merchant fleet is docked will only yield Trash.
  • The ‘Red Eagle’ painting from Famous Painter Lupini is in the art style of the Native American tribe Hopi.
  • Occasionally, a mermaid may be seen swimming up past the window behind the submarine captain.

Traveling Cart

Stardew Valley - Merchants - Traveling Cart
The Traveling Cart is a shop that appears south of The Farm, in Cindersap Forest, on Fridays and Sundays. It also appears each day of the Night Market (Winter 15-17).

The cart is pulled by a pig wearing a fez and spectacles. If you interact with the pig, it oinks at you. If you hold the right mouse button the pig oinks a melody. During the Night Market, the pig floats behind the cart in an inner tube.

The merchant sells a selection of random items in limited quantities (1 or 5 of each). Items are sometimes found for sale outside their normal seasons, which can be helpful for completing bundles.

Traveling Cart prices may vary from visit to visit. Prices are usually quite inflated, but you may find an item sold for less than its normal price.

Players can also change the style of cat or dog they’ve adopted. Players cannot change from cat to dog or vice-versa. The Shrine of Illusions requires an offering of Stardew Valley - Merchants

In late game, after players complete the quest Goblin Problem to gain passage to the Witch’s Hut a teleportation rune will activate in the basement, allowing free passage between the basement room and the Witch’s Hut anytime.

Buildings

After retrieving the Wizard’s Magic Ink, he’ll make some unique buildings available for sale. These buildings require no build time, but are very expensive.
