The main reason players have a hard time discovering how to destroy a bush is because almost everything in the game has an action button pointing out what key you need to press. 
 
 
 
For example, if you need to destroy a barrel to gather resources you’re instructed to press “F” key. 
 
 
 
Once done, you start working on the task. 
 
 

How to equip your knife

 
To gather natural resources you need to equip the proper tool and just start clicking. 
 
 
 
First step is opening your inventory (“I” key). Then, clicking on the knife or dragging it to your character. 
 
 
 
You can assign a quickslot by dragging it to an empty slot, as shown above. 
 
 

How to destroy a bush properly

 
Now you’re holding the knife. 
 
 
 
Next thing to do is looking for a bush and start smashing it. 
 
 
 
And there you are. That bush never saw it coming.
