Why this guide
CD Projekt Red has added FSR support to Cyberpunk 2077, but they did not add presets. Instead, they went for a (seemingly percentage-based) slider, going from 50 to 100.
Given most of the marketing material, and youtube reviews around FSR, feature the marketing terms (e.g. “Ultra Quality”, “Quality”, “Balanced”, “Performance”), or, at the very best, the upscaling ratio, having a 50-100 slider in the game (even if it offers more grainy control) isn’t the most straight forward setting to understand.
So, I made a table, so you can compare what you get with what you would expect, without having to do any (simple) maths.
Table
FSR QUALITY MODE | SCALE FACTORSCALE FACTOR¹ | ORIGINAL RESOLUTION DOWNSCALING PERCENTAGE² |
“Ultra Quality” | 1.3X per dimension | 78% |
“Quality” | 1.5X per dimension | 67% |
“Balanced” | 1.7X per dimension | 59% |
“Performance” | 2.0X per dimension | 50% |
1. The upscaling factor FSR produces
2. The in-game setting
Explanation
In order to calculate the percentage of downscaling from the ratio of upscaling, you only need to divide 100 by it (or divide one (1) by it, and multiply the result by 100). I rounded the result up in order to make it easier to use it in game.
Example: 1.7X → 100/1.7 → 58.823529412… → 59%
Ingame impact
FSR setting | FPS range (as observed via the Steam overlay) |
OFF | 30 to 60, most around 35 |
Ultra quality | 40 to 80, most around 45 |
Quality | 40 to 90, most around 50 |
Balanced | 40 to 100, most around 60 |
Performance | 40 to100, most around 65 |
These measurements were done with my current rig (7660HQ, 16 GGB DDR4,EVGA 1080 SC) and Cyberpunk 2077 at “Ultra” settings.

“Dan M” is correct.
There’s no FSR in Cyberpunk 2077 yet.
What you’ve mistaken for FSR is AMD’s CAS (Contrast Adaptive Sharpening), which I fiddled around with months ago to try and make the game somewhat playable.
Anyway, this article is misleading and you should probably just delete it.
This would be more helpful if you said what resolution you are using. 1080p or 1440p?
FSR is NOT in Cyberpunk. AMD CASfx is but that is not the same thing. There has been no patch or update that implemented the new FSR from AMD.
