Accolades & Social Raids
Lethal labyrinth? Bullet inferno? Creative masterpiece? Don’t just build an Outpost. Design an experience. Raiders select accolades to describe your creation, rewarding ingenuity, originality, and helping grow its reputation. The Social Raid menu easily connects you to your friends’ or favorite Builders’ Outposts to play at any time.
This was not well explained in the beta. It’s essentially experience for your advisors. The symbols on the base and after you purchase a plot, they indicate the advisor who will get experience if they attack or build in this area. Leveling up your advisors leads to leveling up the Chimera, the only source of red cells.

The tombs emit dim light and make loud noises when you are close. They can be destroyed to get a decent amount parts and synthite. Beware of blocking them when you build. They are great bait for traps and you’ll do not lose anything if the thief takes them. Try not to make the resources that drop unaccessible or you could lose praise in the long run.
Using as many decals and cubes as you can to conceal traps can help, but it can also cause people’s eyes to tear. This method can be overwhelming for people, but you should use it sparingly and not throughout the entire base.
Utilizing a limited palette of 2 or 3 cubes and 2 or 3 colors, and a handful of accessories makes your appearance more appealing and cohesive.
If you’re looking for artistic accolades Consider an intriguing story to tell about your building. Perhaps certain rooms appear as if they serve a specific function. Perhaps you converted an old building into this room. If so, what type of building was it? A sense of direction is crucial to creating unique bases.
MYM Moving is very enjoyable. While it’s unlikely to result in the most deaths, it is a great way to let players explore your base while they fight and avoid traps or guards.
– Slowing down speedrunners doesn’t have to feel bad. Whenever you have an obstruction to stop them from moving (e.g. AoE plasma, incinerator), you can offer an alternative route. Although it might take longer than waiting, it is better than waiting for the effect of the particle to end.
Alternate paths, shortcuts, or including tombs in your bases can be fun. HRV doesn’t have to take a single path to the Genmat.
– Don’t use the same guard/trap set up more than 2 or 3 times per map. If it takes too long to disarm/get through, even 3 times may be too many. It can be a bit difficult to repeat a pattern and it is less likely that you will get killed if you get used to it.
– Higher capacity doesn’t mean better. The sweet spot for me is 1500 to 2500. I don’t recommend going above 3000 unless you have a good collection of unlocks and tricks or your base will end with a lot of the same. 1000 and less isn’t easy to master, however.
Making deadlier bases
Understanding the psychology of humans and the brain’s ability to detect patterns are your best assets in catching people off-guard.
- Put a trap in a prominent spot to draw attention, and then surprise them with a trap.
- The map should be designed so that some places feel like they should a trap, but not enough to give them the illusion of security.
- Place acid cubes visible but in a safe location; some people will not notice them since they’re not an immediate threat. They could then walk or fall in them while trying to avoid something other.
You can make things more interesting by using trap mods and explosive enemies. Have one or two bolt shots fire twice or have the bolts homing to each other for example.
Use traps to catch those trying to get ammo or greedy to get everything.
Guards can be used to deter attention from traps. Patrols are a great way to delay the appearance of guards and get them to ignore or trigger panic reactions completely.
Use slopes with bomb guards or traps to create chaos.
You can consider using larger corridors with holo-cube trap flooring.
Dealing with speedrunners
– Avoid corridors with enemies, AoE Plasma and incinerators/bolts shot around corners. This makes it difficult for someone to overlook the entire base. All you need to do is make them to stop or press them for longer than a shield could.
– Corners or winding corridors can be a real drag on people because the grapple is equipped with a brief cooling time.
– Some people are just that good; don’t re-arrange your entire base because of that one guy.
– Be careful to balance the pressure and the obstacles. You do not want to make your work boring or monotonous; if you let people go before they die, you don’t receive any benefit.
