GrW 34 8cm mortar teams provide effective indirect fire support on the battlefield. A high angle can hit targets behind objects, and a good rate of fire can saturate the area.
Barrage weapon. Effective against static infantry and structures.
Section 1 > Introduction and Tips
Granätwerfer, ah yes ze mighty mortor, incredibly it’s the best non-doctrine non-buildable mortar¹ in the game beating every other one in terms of precision.
Costing relatively more expensive than the standard US mortar, the GrW 34 it’s a game changer in terms of versatility in the early game, it’s your best friend against blobs and enemy MG’s scattered around in the battlefield.
¹ Not to be confused with: Artillery Piece

Section 5 > Personal Tips
Don’t deploy them in front of your MG, always put them in the rear.
Don’t deploy them perpendicularly to a building, keep a minimum of 5 feet or less than a building, otherwise the mortar round will literally explode on the building in front of you and the splash can evem injure crew members.
Always remember where you put your mortar, you can literally be pushed back by conscripts if not managing your mortar well.
Don’t right-click a unit to be targeted by the mortar, always use the barrage ability if possible or attack ground, otherwise if you miss the target you’ll tell the mortar to displace, then you’ll loose the effienciency, becouse it will fold back the mortar in the move position and can be super annoying being 10 seconds without indirect fire.
Barraged an area by accident?, Not a good area to barrage? Quick! hit S on your keyboard, you can cancel the barrage and not being debuffed by time to recharge it.
Tell them to retreat immediately if the crew members go down to 2, if they kill another guy, you will lose your mortar.
Use mortars to capture your back territory if you decide to rush victory points.
Do you see any blob moving towards your position? Have to Retreat fast? ground is lost? use the smoke ability barrage, fire 1 shell in front of you then order them to retreat to your HQ, you will block line of sight of your foes and can be super important if your mortar has low crew members.
Are you being barraged by soviets? Don’t be in the same position! alot of players tend to forget their mortars and just select them to barrage yours, becouse they prefer to micro-manage infantry/mgs and other stuff better, if you are being barraged, fire, move, fire again, move, fire at the mortar and, you know the drill.
Don’t be standing in the same position if you are bombarding a british mortar pit, use a grenadier squad to lure the emplacement so they don’t bombard your a*s, or get a 251 next to you to reinforce.
Get a 251 as quickly as possible or a bunker to reinforce if you lose members.
You can finish tanks/infantry/light vehicles/cars and everything if they have extremly low health, just by letting your mortar do his job, it’s super rare but can be extremly powerful.
Mortars can’t move inside trenches/buildings BUT they can board the 251.
A pinned mortar can still fire normally.
