1-1. Build Your Own House

You Can Own Your Home

Before purchasing land, you must obtain permission from the steward/jarl Hjaalmarch Hold or the Pale.

Purchase the land from the steward.

Visit your new property to begin building.

Use the carpenter’s workbench to construct the foundation for your house. Continue to build the home of your dreams.

1-2. Construction – Main Hall

1-3. Construction – Mainhall: Entrance

 

2. Bandit Attack

Kill the bandits who are attacking your house.

Find out where your spouse has gone by reading this note.

Pay the ransom to save your spouse or use violence to rescue her.

3. Houses

Heljarchen Hall

This plot of land can be purchased in the Pale from the Jarl Dawnstar in the White Hall. You must complete the quest Waking Nightmare before buying the property. This is the case if Skald still holds the title of jarl. Note: This flavor is only available to those at least level 22. If you’re the thane, you will receive a housecarl called Gregor. It is located south of Whiterun, near the Pale (you can see Dragonsreach). The closest landmarks are Tower of Mzark and Loreius Farm.

Lakeview Manor

This plot of land can be purchased in Falkreath from Jarl’s Longhouse by the Steward of Falkreath. You must complete the quest Kill the Bandit leader before you can purchase the property, if Siddgeir still holds the jarlship. You’ll be given a housecarl named Rayya if you’re the thane. It is located just north of Pinewatch.

Windstad Manor

This plot of land is located in Hjaalmarch and can be purchased from Morthal, the steward at Highmoon Hall. If Idgrod remains jarl, you must first complete the quest Laid to rest before you are allowed to buy the property. You’ll be given a housecarl named Valdimar if you’re the thane. It is located north of the hold and not far from Solitude. The closest landmarks to it are Ustengrav, and the Abandoned Shackle.
