Volcano Dungeon

Stardew Valley - Forging - Volcano Dungeon

Stardew Valley - Forging

At the north end of Ginger Island, there is a volcano with a cave in it. Entering the cave puts the player outside of the Volcano Dungeon. The entryway has a pool of water on the left side, along with a gate in the bottom right corner with a button on the far side of the gate. This cannot be accessed until the player has completed the dungeon.

The lava river can be crossed by pouring water on it with a watering can. A steel (or higher) watering can is able to cover 5 squares in line, which will cover the width of the lava river without having to use the watering can numerous times. The path will stay for the length of the day, but disappears every night. After the player completes the dungeon, a parrot will offer to build a bridge in exchange for Stardew Valley - Forging
Golden Walnuts.

Once across the lava river, the player can proceed north through the doorway to enter the first level of the dungeon.

Mystic stones and iridium nodes occasionally appear in the dungeon. Unlike the Mines or Skull Cavern, leaving and reentering the dungeon does not result in monsters spawning again on the same day. Level 9 always contains a chest.

Exiting

Unlike the Skull Cavern or the Mines, the Volcano Dungeon does not have ladders or instant exits on every level. There is an exit on the 10th level in the lower left corner that takes the player back to the entrance of the tunnel and allows them to unlock the gate for future access to the forge.

At a certain point, a parrot will appear on the 5th level and can create an exit for 5 Golden Walnuts. This exit takes the player to the east side of the volcano, next to the Parrot Express.

The Forge

Stardew Valley - Forging - The Forge

Stardew Valley - Forging

Level 10 of the dungeon contains the Forge. Players can pay Cinder Shards to use various gems on their weapons and equipment, giving enhancements and enchantments. This level has an exit to the volcano’s entry in the lower left corner. Players can fish in the new magma area, to get items such as Lava Eel, fishing junk, and new furniture item(s) such as the painting ‘Physics 101’.

Weapon forging

You can forge a melee weapon (dagger, hammer, or sword) up to three times to improve its stats. Each forge costs one gem, and 10/15/20 Stardew Valley - Forging
cinder shards depending on the forge level.

Using a diamond as the gem fills all remaining forge levels with random upgrades, but only consumes 10 cinder shards.

  • Amethyst: More knockback (adds 1 per level).
  • Aquamarine: More critical hit chance (adds 4.6% × level).
  • Emerald: More weapon speed (adds 3 on the first level, 2 on the second and third level).
  • Jade: More critical hit damage (adds 10% × level).
  • Ruby: More damage (adds 10% × level to both min and max damage).
  • Topaz: More defense (adds 1 × level).

Enchantments

Stardew Valley - Forging - Enchantments
You can add a random enchantment to any weapon or tool (except fishing pole, pan, return sceptre, or scythe). This costs one prismatic shard and 20 cinder shards.

Each weapon or tool can only have one enchantment, and you can’t choose which one will be applied, but you can repeat with another prismatic shard to re-randomize it.

Enchantments are randomized based on the number of times you’ve enchanted any tool, so reloading the day and enchanting a different tool will change the progression.

Combat enchantments

Only applies to melee weapons (can’t be applied to a slingshot)

  • Artful: 50% cooldown on special moves. Can only be applied once to a weapon.
  • Bug Killer: Double damage to bugs, allows killing armored bugs.
  • Crusader: 50% more damage to undead / shadows, prevents mummies from reviving.
  • Vampiric: Chance to regain some health on hit.
  • Haymaker: When cutting weeds, you get more fiber, and also a chance to collect hay.
  • Cutting weeds has a 50% chance of also dropping a fiber, and 33% chance of extra hay (directly into silo on farm, else into inventory).

Tool enchantments

  • Auto-Hook Stardew Valley - Forging : Automatically hooks fish when they bite (which starts the fishing minigame).
  • Archaeologist Stardew Valley - Forging : Double chance of finding artifacts in artifact spots.
  • Bottomless Stardew Valley - Forging : Infinite water.
  • Efficient Stardew Valley - Forging Stardew Valley - Forging Stardew Valley - Forging Stardew Valley - Forging Stardew Valley - Forging : No stamina drain.
  • Generous Stardew Valley - Forging : 50% chance of double item after digging.
  • Master Stardew Valley - Forging : Adds an extra fishing level to the player while held.

  • Preserving Stardew Valley - Forging : 50% chance that bait and tackle aren’t consumed on use.

  • Shaving Stardew Valley - Forging : Extra 3 regular wood from Oak, Maple, Pine, Palm, and Mahogany trees. Chance of extra hardwood from stumps. Chance of extra produce from giant crops.
  • Swift Stardew Valley - Forging Stardew Valley - Forging Stardew Valley - Forging : Tool use is faster.

Infinity Weapons

You can forge a Galaxy Soul into a galaxy weapon at the cost of 20 cinder shards. Doing this 3 times (at a total cost of 3 Galaxy Souls and 60 cinder shards) will turn the weapon into a more powerful “Infinity” weapon. Less or more Galaxy Souls do nothing. This works for the Galaxy Sword (Infinity Blade), Galaxy Hammer (Infinity Gavel), and Galaxy Dagger (Infinity Dagger).

Weapon Appearance

You can merge two weapons through the forge. The resulting weapon will have all the stats and info of the first weapon, but the appearance of the second weapon. You can only merge weapons of the same type (e.g. you can’t merge a hammer with a sword), and can’t merge slingshots.

This costs 10 cinder shards, and consumes the second weapon.

Combined Rings

You can combine two different rings into one with stacked effects. This costs 20 cinder shards.

This has two restrictions:

  • You can’t combine two of the same ring into one. (You can combine two different rings with the same effect though, like Glow Ring and Glowstone Ring. Their effects will stack in the same way as wearing both rings separately.)
  • You can’t combine three or more rings into one (i.e. a combined ring can’t be further combined).

Unforge

For a weapon, unforging removes all forge upgrades (but not enchantments) and resets its appearance. This is free, but only recovers some of the Cinder Shards used to forge it.

For a combined ring, unforge splits it back into the original rings.

To begin the unforging process, place the item that you want to unforge into the left square slot. Then click the red ⨯ symbol near the bottom right corner. The unforged item(s) will appear in your inventory.
