Presentation

Hello, my name is hidden and welcome to my first guide!

In this guide I will show you everything about the Greenhouse, a complete tutorial.

Greenhouse

The greenhouse has been a building on the farm since the beginning. However, it is initially in a state of degradation, making it unusable.

The building can be repaired by completing the pantry sets for the Community Center, or by purchasing it for 35,000 coins through Joja.

Crops grown inside the greenhouse are not subject to season restrictions, allowing you to produce most fruit plants and trees, regardless of the time of year.

Basic

The interior of the building features a 10 by 12 plot for crops, and a gutter to replenish your watering can (although, only the right side of the gutter can be used).

  • Scarecrows are not needed in the greenhouse to prevent crows from eating crops.
  • Crops and fruit trees will never be hit by lightning.
  • Fertilizer in the greenhouse will last for a season.
  • Fruit trees can be grown in the tiled area outside the wooden border that surrounds the soil.
  • Apiaries will not produce honey inside the greenhouse.

Optimizing Yields

Since the greenhouse allows the production of most crops, regardless of the season, the limited growth space it houses is very valuable and should not be wasted.

  • Sprinkler Arrangement:

If the player intends to use automated sprinklers to water his crops, some soil tiles will have to be sacrificed to place the sprinklers. This is due to the fact that the growth area is too large for any sprinkler to wet the center from any edge.

Fortunately, in the ideal configuration, only 4 tiles are lost, leaving ~ 97% of the usable area to be used. This is mainly thanks to the fact that sprinklers can be placed on the wooden grid that border the arable area.

Due to the strange dimensions, there are many different ways to locate sprinklers in the greenhouse. Below are some possible sprinkler arrangements that achieve optimum coverage while limiting the number of squares that are covered. Note that in each case some sprinklers have to be located on the wooden edge.

16 Quality Sprinklers. 12 arable spaces are lost to sprinklers (-10%) leaving room for 108 crops.

6 Iridium sprinklers. Only 4 arable spaces are lost to sprinklers (-4%), leaving space for 116 crops.

  • Arrangement of Fruit Trees:

Fruit trees can be grown in the tiled area outside the wooden border that surrounds the soil. Although there appear to be a number of articles of furniture (ie planters and drums scattered around the edge of the building) that would push out the trees and hinder their growth, in fact these objects are purely decorative and do not affect the trees. Therefore, the only considerations to be made when planting trees are their proximity to each other, and to any sprinkler that can be placed on the wooden edge. The trees will stop and refuse to grow if a sprinkler is occupying the forbidden zone of 8 tiles around the tree before reaching maturity.

This in mind, it is possible to grow at least 18 fruit trees inside the greenhouse. A possible optimal configuration is shown in the image below.
