This guide is a basic introduction to Rogue Tower mods, where to find them and how to install them.
 
 

Where to Get Mods

Currently Rogue Tower does not officially offer support for mods, but they are allowed by the developer. Right now there are already a number of really useful mods available so it’s definitely worth having a look for yourself! Currently, the de facto destination for all mods is Thunderstone:

Preparing to Download Mods

There are two main methods for using mods, either you install all of them manually or you use a mod manager. In this guide we will explain both methods.
 
 
Mod Manager Method
 
Mod managers are great way to simplify using mods so if you’re new to modding, I’d definitely recommend it. I recommend to you use r2modman, which is a trusted and user-friendly manager.
 
 
Download r2modman:

• 1. Click “manual download”
• 2. Create a new folder on your desktop for r2modman
• 3. Use WinRar or 7zip to open the .rar file, selected all the files and copy them to the new folder
   
   
   
   
   
  
• 4. Run the r2modman Setup.exe file and follow instructions, once installed, open r2modman
• 5. Search for Rogue Tower, click on it, then click on “select game”
   
   
   
   
   
  
• 6. That’s all, now you are ready to go download some mods

 
Manual Method
 
The first thing you must do is download and install “BepInEx Rogue Tower”, this mod will allow you to use all other mods.
 
 

• 1. Manually download BepInEx here: https://rogue-tower.thunderstore.io/package/bbepis/BepInEx_Rogue_Tower/ – [thunderstore.io]  and open the .rar
• 2. Now go to you Steam library, right click on Rogue Tower in your Steam library and choose Manage -> Browse Local Files
   
   
   
   
   
  
• 3. Copy all the files from the BepInEx archive and put them in the main “Rogue Tower” game folder you just opened through steam
   
   
   
   
   
  
• 4. Now run the game once and then close it
• 5. If everything went well, you will see the “BepInDex” folders now has “plugins” folder within it, succes!

 
 
 

Adding New Mods

ModManager Method
 
Adding mods with the modmanager is extremely easy. I prefer using r2modman application rather than chrome. So open r2modman, search for Rogue Tower, select it and then click on “select profile”
 
 

 
 
You will see your mod folder is empty. So now click on “Online” to look at the available mods, simply click on one you like (i.e. SpeedControls) and download it!
 
 

 
 
Finally, make sure to run Rogue Tower by clicking the “start modded” button inside of r2modman!
 
 
Manual Method
 
Simply go to Thunderstone, download whichever mod you want. For this guide we will use the SpeedControls mod as an example. You can download it here: https://rogue-tower.thunderstore.io/package/Jdewi/SpeedControls/ – [thunderstore.io] 
 
 
Once downloaded, open the .rar file and then extract all of the mod files into \Steam\steamapps\common\Rogue Tower\BepInEx\plugins.
 
If you are using multiple mods, create an individual folder for every mod inside of r\BepInEx\plugins as shown in the picture below. Put the files from the .rar archive inside of the the folder you made.
 
 

 
 
After doing that, you’re done! The next time you start your game you will notice a pause and play button at the top. Pressing the play button multiple times rotates between normal speed, 2x and 3x speed.
