Your bazaar ladies distribute goods to your homes in Pharaoh: The New Era. Your stores can be brimming with jewelry and beer and your granaries brimming with food however, without a bazaar your citizens will live in ramshackle huts and starve amid the abundance. Two kinds of walkers are distributed by the bazaar: a Bazaar Buyer (which could be one who is a destination walker) or a Bazaar Distributor, which could be a random walkers.

When the Bazaar Buyer is ready to purchase something then the buyer is dispatched. The item is then made available in a Granary, Storage Yard, or another location connected to the Bazaar via a length of road. By clicking on the Bazaar, you can control precisely which items and goods that a Bazaar can purchase or not purchase. The Bazaar Buyer will be treated as a walker who drops off at a dropoff point for the purposes of pathfinding.

Once the Bazaar has enough food or other goods to sell then the Bazaar Distributor is born as a random walker and begins to sell her products to any house she walks by. The Bazaar Distributor is summoned if the Bazaar runs out goods to sell , and then returns to the Bazaar.

Visually, the Bazaar Buyer (left), and the Bazaar Distributor are two different. The Buyer wears a basket on her forehead, while the Distributor does not. The Buyer’s children are 100 units.

Important Note Important Note Bazaar Distributor is different from random walkers in how she returns to the Bazaar. The Bazaar Distributor will only return to the red despawn square of the Bazaar after she has reached the length of her maximum walker’s path. If she is recalled, i.e. the Bazaar is empty of items to sell, she will return to the red despawn square of the Bazaar to vanish. This is essential for forced walker blocks, and also when the Bazaar Distributor sells both food and other items. Since food is sold more quickly than other items and other items, the Bazaar Distributor who sells both will typically remain out and walk for a long time even after she has had enough food to sell. A recall request will prevail over a despawn return.

Troubleshooting and frequently asked questions: Market Goods and Bazaars

Q. Q.

A. Across the entire map, in the event that she has a path. They are identified as very females.

Q. Q.

A. This can happen for several reasons. If your Overseer of Commerce has been assigned to stockpile a resource then the Bazaar will not attempt to purchase it. If your Buyers are out, the Bazaar cannot send out any more until at least one of them has returned. (The Bazaar can send out a maximum of two Buyers one for food items, and another for other items.) The Bazaar will not buy an item if it is less than 200 units of storage. 100 units isn’t worth the effort, it seems.

Q. Q.

A. It’s a difference! A bazaar that is located in a desirable location looks more sophisticated. More importantly, a fancy bazaar will send out two Bazaar Distributors instead of one! The picture below shows a regular Bazaar (left) and an extravagant bazaar (right). They are separated by a Temple of Ra.

Q. What’s the reason that half my housing block is stocked with food while the other half doesn’t?

A. A. If the house has a capacity of 400 and the Bazaar Distributor walks by with 300 items of food in the market the house will eat all the food, leaving nothing for the houses below. Don’t worry, houses have a much greater capacity to consume food than they do as long as the Bazaar has a steady supply of food, the food will eventually reach all the houses.

Q. Q.

A. This is an issue. Your markets behave as if you still have the item. This is most common with expensive items that were sold once and then instructed by the market not to buy again. Funny enough telling the Bazaar that the item should be thrown away resets the stock to zero and then it falls to negative again.
