A complete Beginner Guide to Jendaya the Golemancer, and all of her major intended playtiles.

The Basics (build section is below)

Introduction

This Guide is not intended for optimizing Endless Realm Runs or the Team Comp oriented Story mode. It is meant to be used for playing versatile builds in a Solo Realm Mode Setting on any difficulty. Although I'm not fluent in English, I will do my best to make this Guide as easy to understand as possible. Please forgive my poor grammar. You can correct me or add anything I have forgotten or missed.

I enjoy Kudo, the Warlock, but I am now interested in Jendaya, one of Gordian Quests most difficult Characters. This is evident by Jendaya being 1 of 3 Characters with a difficulty rating of 3-Stars.

Although she is a great player, it can be difficult to learn how to play her, especially as many of her Core Mechanics don't get explained in-game. I wrote a Basic Guide to help you understand her Core Mechanics. However, I did not go into detail about her playstiles.

Let's get started.

Stats & Core Concepts

Jendaya has the lowest HP pool of all the Character casts. She also starts the game with 20 cards in her Deck. This makes Jendaya extremely difficult to build a deck with. You have to find and swap out more cards than the other characters. Jendaya's Mastery options are generally very bad so it is not difficult to find Mastery-nodes.

To make up for her terrible starting profile, she is actually 2 characters, which you will need to pilot. She does share her card pool with Rocky, her companion, and each run will start with 8 Cards. Jendayas will take 12 of the remaining cards.

Rocky the Golem, Jendayas' better half, has 3 AP and a Max Card Draw limit of 5 cards per round. He also has his own SP bar. He is identical to Jendayas in stats, and is unaffected by equipment bonuses and all Talents, except for the 2 "Summon & Construct", which are very bad). This means that neither his Max Card Draw nor his AP and SP will ever rise.

I don't know how his health is calculated. However, his max. His HP-pool will always be slightly lower than Jendayas', and he will always spawn at a percentage equal to Jendaya (. He will also start the fight if she is low on health).

This, along with his higher health, makes him the perfect tank. He will always start every fight feeling refreshed and healthy, no matter how much damage he takes, as long as Jendaya is safe.

In the event that Rocky dies, you must win 1 Battle without him before Rocky respawns. This can be very problematic. But, it is still preferable to die, as Jendaya will not return if you die.

Jendaya has many cards that target Rocky so it is a good idea to keep a few backup cards. Keep at least a few copies of each of Jendaya's attack or defense cards as reserves.

Lastly, Jendaya and Rocky have different cards and although they are easy to recognize, you can always tell if a card is a Jendaya or Rocky card by looking at the AP /SP-Cost icon or looking at the cards Keyword section. Since Rocky-Cards will always have the GOLEM-Keyword.

— Rocky will always have a SHIFT synergy-card, regardless of Jendayas setup.

Core Gameplay Mechanisms

Jendaya is a Character with a few fundamentally different playstiles. They feature unique Keywords and damage types, buffs & demuffs, and overal abilities that are not shared by other characters. . . jada-jada.

Jenday & Rocky's gameplay is all about positioning and coordinated abilities. Jendaya's entire design splits her potential between Rocky and herself, so one can't perform exceptionally well without the other. Jendaya and Rocky have so many card interactions that it's not necessary to spam one card. Instead, you are encouraged to use and abuse her entire toolkit.

These cards can be used to benefit Jendaya and Rocky, but they require specific positioning to work. This means that Jendaya and Rocky must be in the same Lane or Row. However, these conditions may be more specific. Jendaya must be right behind Rocky, Jendaya and Rocky have to occupy the bottom Row and top Row respectively, or both must be in the front-row.

It is usually a bad idea if you add multiple cards with different specifications. You will find it difficult to play half of the cards at maximum efficiency. Even though Jendaya & Rocky are great at generating AGILITY charges, this is true even though Jendaya & Rocky can be a real powerhouse in terms of generating them. Elite-mobs can also use the passive "Blink", ability to completely undo any strategy that relies on too many variable positioning cards.

Jendaya and Rocky are extremely mobile and can get anywhere on the board. This is whether they want to dodge abilities, position their cards, or just generate extra SP. Although they can dodge most "skillshots", it is not difficult for them to do so. After the first game Jendaya & Rocky will be extremely tanky. Jendaya's DEFENSE cards raises both her Guard and the Rockies.

Jendaya and Rocky deal mostly PHYSICAL–Damage. However, Jendaya has a few FIRE–Damage cards. Rockies strongest version will only deal FIRE–Damage. Rockies has access to a PASSIVE card that greatly increases his damage output but also transforms his damage type.

However, Jendayas & Rockies' damage output is very low at the end. This is why Boss fights in later realms can take a lot of time.

Also, be aware. Many offensive cards in Jendayas set create temporary attack cards in Rockies deck. These TEMPORARY cards do not receive the MASTERY-choices or runes of their creators.

BRUISER BUILD

Base Setup

This interactive Offensive Playstile passively generates a lot of Guard and Agility. However, it relies on long and precise card combinations to perform well.

You can create a lot of temp attack cards by using your impulsive masteries, agility generators, and draw enough cards to make a lot of draws. Then you can throw the Card-Based equivalent to a Tekken Combo one-hit KO combo at all your enemies.

Stat Focus: Str

Starting Deck: Golem Master

Synergie Card: Switch

Jendaya & Rocky Positioning: Both in the Front Row

Mastery Priorities: Spirited, Remove Retain

Rune Priorities: Scaling boosts (as usual are the most important runes to late game but don't have much impact on early game) >>> 1x Intinsic > 2x Agility >> Efficiency > Efficiency > Spirited> Fury >>> Stat. (Boosts are always incredible)

Core:

Defensive Cards: Embankment (Tier 1 Rocky); Embankment (Terra 2 Rocky); Deep Bond (Ter 3 Jendaya)

Offensive Cards: Launcher Setup (Tier 2 Jendaya), Duo Skirmish (Tier 2 Jendaya), Just Like Old Times (Tier 3 Jendaya)

Support and Buffs cards: Impart (Tier 1 Jendaya), Reorient (Tier 1 Jendaya), Flame Infusion (Tier 1 Rocky)

Actual Traps: Duo Tactics (Tier 2 Jendaya), Rock Duo (Tier 3 Jendaya), Duo Offense (Tier 3 Jendaya), Seismic Wave (Tier 3 Jendaya), Upheaval (Tier 3 Rocky)

Early Game

This hand is the easiest because you start with a Tier 3 card in your deck. You also have a lot of defensive cards. Rocky can run Rocky with 8-9 cards in his deck.

You should first respec your 1xTEAM SHIELD, 2x STONEBULLET cards into copies FLAME INFUSION and FLAME IMPART. Once acquired, or when respecing multiple time to find them, you can always substitute DODGEs for either a READY-CHECK or, if necessary, one or two CALLOUT cards.

Your absolute priority should be to locate 2x copies SPACE CREATED post haste and 1x copy "EMKANKMENT. You can either respec ROCK DUO to a DEEP BOOND card or wait until you have the 3 cards. Slowly get rid all defensive cards from both Jendayas deck and Rockies deck. Then, it's easy sailing.

Mid-Game

You can find 1x copies of each LAUNCHER, ASSAULT&BATTERY, and DUO SKIRISH. Your third and final Tier 3-Card must be JUST LIKE THE OLD TIMES. This card can be reissued at a later date.

At this point, your single target damage should be high enough to allow you to pick up a GROUND SMASH as a follow-up to DUO SKIRMISH. The INT-scaling is not a problem, as the damage comes from DUO SKIRMISH which provides tons of CRIT. You can also replace this card with an UPHEAVAL during the later stages.

You can get IMPULSE masteries on ASSAULT&BATTERY and READY CHECK. Remove retain on SPACE CREATED, FLAME INFUSION, and determine if you need COHESION to generate additional SP or draw more cards. Both options are good.

Tips & Tricks

The perfect starter is a combination of 2x Early Agility runes on COHESION AND READY CHECK.

1x Intrinsic Rune is required for DEEP BOND.

ROCKY, UPPERCUT! is the best-scaling 1 AP-cost Rocky attack card. Only MOLTEN FIST can beat it, but only vs. burning opponents.

ROCKY, HAYMAKER! usually outperforms DUO ATTACK, because of its high base damage and Vulnerable-affliction, even thou it has a lower STR-scaling. ROCKY, HAYMAKER is the result! The strongest 2 AP-cost Rocky attack.

EPICENTER BUILD

Base Setup

This is the "easiest", not the strongest, Playstile of the Golemancers. It is mechanically the most complex. It is very defensive and can deal both single target and AoE damage. This is due to the fact that it does not require a lot of positioning.

If you're playing the Golemancer first time, I think this is a good place.

Stat Focus: A Int > Dex> Str

Starting Deck: The Earth Mage

Synergie Card: Switch

Jendaya & Rocky Positioning: Far back, preferably in an corner, right behind Rocky

Mastery Priorities: Impulse and Gain Modifier; Surge and Gain Modifier. Cull

Rune Priorities: 1x Intinsic > Efficiency Spirited >>> Stat. Scaling Boosts (, as always, are amazing runes. Stats and extra Scaling don’t have a huge impact on the early game, but they do have an impact on the late game.

Core:

Defensive Cards: Rock Protector (Jendaya), Team Shield (Jendaya), Space Created (Rocky)

Offensive Cards: Epicenter (Jendaya), Aftershock (Jendaya)

Support and Buffs cards: Deep Bond (Jendaya), Shuddering Steps (Jendaya)

Actual Traps: All Cell-Buffer-Cards and CHANNEL generators

Early Game

This part can be tricky as you need to survive and wait to find the right cards. First, you need to change your FORMATION-setup so Jendaya is in the back and Rocky is in the middle. It is a great way to avoid 1/3rd of the boards offense during big wave battles. I try to hug one corner.

Your first goal should be to locate 2x ROCK BLOCK cards as quickly as possible. To do this, you should Respec one your CREATE ROCKs and continue trying to get rid Rockies Tier 2-ROCK cards via respecs as well as your INVENTIVE SOLUTION. His initial loadout is nothing and he can do just fine with 3x ROCKY PUNCH! 2x ROCKY GUARD! cards.

Tier 1-cards: Try to get at least 1x TEAMSWITCH as soon as possible. Then grab an IMPART or REORIENT.

Do not get rid of your MOVE EARTH and DODGE-cards too early. They are much more valuable than STONE BULLET.

Mid-Game

Once your Quest for ROCKBLOCKs is complete you can try to find 1x copy of AFTERSHOCK and EARTH JOLT. Also, SHUDDERING STEPS, GROUND SASH and AFTERSHOCK are all good options. Taking the SEISMIC-creating cards is a priority. Grab EPICENTER as soon as you can and boom, you're done.

You might consider switching priorities and finding more Tier 2 cards for Rocky.

2x SPACE CREATED will ensure that you are never out of position again. These are great to use with an IMPULSE-mastered EARTH COVERS.

Rocky in this playstile has only one purpose. He blocks damage and gives you GROUND SMASH if you play EPICENTER. We can go all-in on Rocky's DEFENSIVE-card choices to get a ROCKY COUNTER! You can even get a ROCKY, ARMOR UPS! A REVITALIZING FIST is a must-have, but you can also grab a WEIGHTED FIST. To increase your single target damage, but not because we really need it, 2x AFTERSHOCK onto an EPICENTER createdSEISMIC GROUND will melt bosses.

RUMBLE should be picked up as soon as possible, at around 5-6 AP. You simply cannot play it with EPICENTER before. A second AFTERSHOCK is a good idea as well.

Also, get DEEP BOND as soon and as possible. GEOMANTIC PROPHECY is a good option for Tier 3-cards.

Tips & Tricks

SHUDDERING STEPS-passive + RUMLE is my favorite EPICENTER setup. It provides 2-3x Seismic GROUNDS to absorb, and it doesn't matter if one misses any enemy positions.

A tactical MOVE EARTH is a great idea. Few enemies can survive 2x AFTERSHOCKS on EPICENTER cells. We can also blow it up via UPSEAL, but you might want to shift another target onto the cell.

Play an EARTH JOLT immediately after your EPICENTER to get the most from UPHEAVAL. Although your chance of undoing your EPICENTER is very small, it's possible to do so 1 out 9 times. However, vs hordes this clears boards way faster than using AFTERSHOCKs on EPICENTER cells. You should only activate UPHEAVAL once you have GROUND SMASHed thou. You wouldn't want those CRIT-stacks to be undone now.

TREMOR PULSE can be a great way to increase your AOE-damage, but it's usually too late in a run when you can actually use the card and make it worthwhile.

ROCK n'ROLL Build (Still to come, and this will be)'s most laborious.
