Garry’s Mod – How to DarkRP

 

Introduction

Hello, if you’re reading this, you’re probably new to DarkRP. If you’re not, you can skip the Mods Section.

In this guide i’ll teach you how to get started on a DarkRP Server (any server) and start earning cash

Before you start, you gotta install some mods

All of the servers need some mods to function properly, if you refuse to download these mods, everything in the server will have a pink and black color and everything will have ERROR in big a*s text.

How can you avoid this situation?

Well… Most of the servers install the mods automatically once you join and you’ll probably be okay.
Although! servers like Monolith that include A LOT of mods to look more “realistic”, you’ll have to install the content pack that you can find in the server (probably in the chat), or find it yourself in the workshop. Some servers have a big button that can take you to the Content Pack automatically.

So you got rid of the errors and missing textures? Hooray! But why are there still missing textures and errors you might ask? well… while yes you have installed the mods, most of the maps require you to have Counter Strike Source installed so that they can borrow the textures and models.

BUT I DON’T WANNA PAY FOR THE GAME D:<…ok ok, there is another way you can fix that without paying anything, buuuutttt… since im too lazy to tell you how… check the link below.

Once you’ve done both of these things… then were ready to start 😀

First Time Joining

So you waited until the mods were installed and now you’ve spawned in the middle of rp_downtown. You probably have some cash to get started but… now what? :/

Well everytime im on a new server, i personally explore the map a bit to know the basics of where i can base, what places are raidable and if the server you’re playing is actually good… it will contain some heists O_O.

After that it’s time for you to get a job. Getting a job is very simple you just press F4 and select the job you want.
There are 3 categories in the jobs section.

• Citizens
• Goverment
• Criminals

Remember! DarkRP is a roleplaying game mode! you can be whoever you want, do whatever you want but you gotta know what each category does.

DarkRP is a roleplaying game that takes place in a corrupt society where everyone is trying to earn money anyway possible, doesn’t matter if its illegal.

Citizens

Citizens have the easiest jobs but don’t earn a lot of cash. A lot of people choose Citizen Jobs such as Chef, Medic, Gun Dealers with the mindset of opening their own business, making alliances etc. But even if you open a business, you’ll have a hard time mantaining it if you don’t play s m o r t. And by smort i mean making a back up plan. What is a backup plan you might ask? well… like i said DarkRP is a roleplaying game that takes place in a corrupt society where everyone is trying to earn money anyway possible, yes you might be a citizen but its highly recommended to have an Underground Business (illegal guns, printers, casinos, bars), but if you’re not into that thing, then its fine! just remember that it’ll be harder for you to mantain a business without a backup plan.

Goverment

The Goverment category is pretty self-explanatory. You can work for the goverment! you can become a Police Officer, FBI and even become the Mayor/President! If you’re working for the goverment it’s very recommended to not go corrupt, since if you start buying printers, making shady deals and starting to use your role just to be above everyone else, then there will be a time when you’ll get caught, demoted and probably lose everything.

Criminals
This is the fun part. Criminals have a very low paycheck (0-100$) while a police officer has about 500$ to 12500$ depending on the server and role, but criminals can do stuff that no citizen or police can do… Crimes.You can do 2 types of crimes, The 1st is what i like to call Grinding which is basically either selling weed, meth, printing money, kidnapping and basically earn money while you’re inside your base, the second one is Raiding. A lot of people make bases/businesses to protect their Printers, Weed, Meth or whatever they’re hiding in there, so if you wanna choose the Raider life while yes you’ll earn LOTTA MONE, you’ll gotta have a lot of armor, good weapons etc. and if the raid is unsuccessful, then you spent all of your money for no reason… BUT… Good servers (Fudgy’s, Civil Gamers, Monolith, Icefuse etc.) usually have a Heisting system where you can rob a bank, hack into the servers and steal money, Smash and grab and HELL EVEN ROB THE POLICE DEPARTMENT! Those are the “safe” raiding places were they’re not usually guarded a lot and if you play it smart, you’ll earn a lot of money.

Now, you can be whatever you want, i don’t care, just be smart and creative and you’ll have a good start

Tip

ITS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO PLAY WITH A FRIEND, being alone in a game full of gangs and police is still fine but some company doesnt hurt, in fact.. IT HELPS A LOT.. Since if you have good Co-operation you can do more successful raids, start gangs, have more businesses/bases and basically make it easier for both you and your friend(s).

How to start as a Citizen?

Firstly, as a citizen. You’ll have to choose a good job. In servers that have a Hunger/Thirst System it’s highly recommended to become a Chef since you can sell Pizzas from 500$ to 25000$ depending on the server, but if your recommended server doesn’t have a hunger/thirst system then you can prob earn money in a lot of ways but the best ones are Gun Dealer and Casino Owner.

As a casino owner, you’ll probably have a casino built for you, but you can charge customers to enter your casino and EARN MORE MONEY FROM THE MACHINES! 😀.

As a gun dealer, a lot of criminals will want to buy guns from you, you can play it safe and buy a gun license from the Mayor/President to sell your guns, Oorrrrrr….. start selling guns immediately. As a gun dealer though, there are some restrictions, let’s say a customer wants a pistol for 800$, you’ll have to do some maths to find the correct price so that you can earn income and won’t scam the customer. Since you can’t make guns you’ll have to buy em to give it to the customer, I personally sell my guns with an 500$-1250$ fee depending on how cheap or expensive the gun is.

But whatever job you pick, either if it’ll be Bartender, Chef, Gun Dealer, Casino Owner, DJ etc. it’s highly recommended to have Printers since if your business is failing, you can earn some cash out of it either way. Remember kids! It’s not illegal if you aren’t caught!

How to start as Goverment (Police, SWAT etc.)

If you’re SWAT or Police Officer, it’s pretty easy, just arrest criminals or even raid they’re bases if your chief requested it!

But if you become the mayor/president accidentally or on purpose, then you gotta be a loving mayor so that you won’t get killed, cause if you’re any other role, once you die, you respawn as the same role, but if you’re the president and you die then…. you lose everything.

As a mayor/president you have the ability to add Laws onto the server which will remain as long as you’re the president/mayor. If you are a corrupt sh*tty mayor you would probably make Tax 100% and add laws like OoOh gImmE mOnE Or ArrEsT, no, don’t do that or you’ll probably have a Shotgun Shell between your eyes. Instead it’s highly recommended to become a loving mayor, add equal laws that make sense, love all sides no matter what and LOWER THOSE DAMN TAXES >:(.

The Goverment side was pretty simple, thats it 😐

How to start as a Criminal?

Well.. First things first choose what TYPE of criminal you want to be.. you can be a Meth Cook, or a Thief, A weed grower perhaps. As a criminal, while you can earn lotta cash, you have to follow A LOT OF RULES such as Adverting whatever you’re doing, for e.x type /advert Raid if you want to raid a base or /advert Mug (insert amount) or die so that you won’t get banned. If you’re a Meth Cook, Weed Grower or basically someone who doesn’t make money on the streets then ignore the /advert stuff.

Lets start with…

Meth Cooks/Weed Growers

As a meth cook you can cook meth and sell it to npcs! usually servers have an NPC that buys your meth and each server has its own Meth Cooking System, but no worries it’s mostly adding ingredients in the correct order. After you cooked your meth, you can pick it up with E and bring it to a meth buyer that will either give you the cash straight away or give you a location that you have to deliver the Meth to.

Now, if you’re a Weed grower then you gotta do a lot of work. Since a Meth Cook usually just adds stuff and waits while a Weed Grower has to take care of its weed with Air, Sun and Water and constantly have his eye on his weed, but the payout is worth it since the Weed Buyer usually gives you the money straight away and you can earn up to 500k per weed.

It’s time for….

Thiefs/Gangsters
When you’re a thief, you can raid other peoples bases/shops and steal or destroy their precious printers, meth, weed etc. But the raiding life is very hard since you have to invest a lot of money to ammunition, armor, guns and if you die or the payout from the raid is lower than what you’ve spent then you’re kinda screwed since you can raid every 10 minutes.

As a gangster you usually don’t raid bases. If you have a Gang Leader online then you can obey to his commands and have some support, or you can be a lone wolf and earn money by yourself, as a Gangster you rarely raid other peoples bases unless your gang leader told you to or the base has little to none protection since a Gangster doesn’t have Raiding tools on him, only the Gang Leader usually has a Lockpick, but a gangster can still rob banks if the server has a heist system, but the easiest and more safe way to earn money as a gangster or a thief is by Mugging, you can go up to someone with a gun on your hand and type /advert mug (insert amount) or die and if they’re not armed or the server has a FearRP rule then they give you the cash.

FINALE: How do I get rich in DarkRP?

Now…. How do I earn cash? you might ask… Well…

Citizens

Start a business! Thats the only way a citizen can earn LOTTA MONE, you just have to train your marketing skills and you’ll be rich in no time!

Goverment
Alright so, this one is tricky.. I already explain how to earn money as a mayor in the How to start as Goverment section, but how does one earn money from being a cop? Some servers have a Bounty System that pays the Police Officer/SWAT that will arrest that certain criminal. If you manage to arrest a highly wanted criminal, you can easily earn about 100k+ but if the server you’re playing in doesn’t have a Bounty System, then all you have to do is do your duty, protect the city/town and catch bad guys. You can also get printers and go corrupt but its not allowed in most servers and it will probably get you banned if you do that.

Criminals
As a criminal, you can earn money by re-enacting Godfather or La Casa De Papel or even Breaking Bad! Meth Cooking, Weed Growing, Kidnapping and Printers is what will earn you a lot of money, raiding will too but it is very risky since like i said if you don’t want to spend a lot of money, then do one of the roles mentioned above, don’t start raiding if you’re unsure how to do it.

HONORABLE MENTION!

You can also earn money by using your childish creativity! A lot of people made money by sitting on a couch and putting a sign saying something funny! or you can start an Advice Shop that will give out advices to your customers and you can earn A LOT OF MONEY FROM THAT! Don’t believe me?
