Hi, welcome to this post, DEVOUR – Best and safe spots in game guide.
Each map has a safe spot that i know of.
Some spots require a little extra caution.
Most of the spots in this guide require players to move in ways they may not be familiar with, so I will explain them here.
Jump Stacking / Stair stacking.
You can perform Jump Stacking (also known as Stair Stacking) by repeatedly jumping while running up a slope. To do this, go to your keybinding settings and change your jump binding to the mouse wheel. Scroll your mouse wheel while running up a slope to stack jumps. This will boost you when you let go or reach the top of the slope. You can use a keyboard macro to achieve the same effect if you don’t wish to stop using the jump to the spacebar. However, i will not cover this tutorial as it is straightforward to follow on youtube. Some slopes, such as the roof of the bank bridge, are too low for stacking. Stack jumps depend on the fps and are almost impossible at 30 fps.
UV – Jumping
UV – Jumping is a lesser known and less useful technique but can be useful in certain situations. I will briefly discuss it. It is easier than stack jumping because it involves only jumping, then flickering your uv immediately and crouching. It is easier to jump on the scroll wheel and crouch on either m4 of m5. However, it is not required – crouching isn’t needed for any spots below.
The Farmhouse
100% Safe Spots
Azazel’s minions and other enemies cannot reach these spots without you having to move.
To reach this spot, you must uv-jump 3 times up the hay to the left. From there you can jump to the player shown in the picture (both spots are safe against Azazel and his minions). However, you must be careful because if you walk across the platform you will glitch out of bounds and teleport back to spawn.
You can reach the roof by stack jumping on the rock to the right of basement stairs. From here, you can walk around the room and see the upstairs though they won’t load anything in.
If you stack jump on the basement stairs and then move backwards while holding either left or right, you will land on an invisible walkway. You are 100% safe if you stay at the rear, don’t crouch, and don’t make any movements. This is a very easy spot to reach, but it’s not the most safe if you’re inexperienced.
You can reach this spot by stack jumping either between the hay and cage in photo 1, or by stack jumping on the fallen branch in photo 2.
The tree that was used in the previous location can also be used for landing onto the tree next to it.
Indefinite Safe Spots
You will need to move around in order to confuse Azazel’s minions.
Slowly moving sideways on the log will force Azazel to follow you around it. Doing this quickly can cause her to lose you and look for someone else to chase.
This cage is well-known as it’s easy to climb on top and move from side to side in order to lose Anna. It is also located very close to where you will spend a lot of your time (especially near the end of the game).
The Asylum
100% Safe Spots
Azazel’s minions and other enemies cannot reach these spots without you having to move.
Asylum has a lot of stairs and roofs that are permeable, so it is easy to reach the out-of-bounds area. You can use the staircase between the basement and the cells.
This area is easy to abuse, as it is near the altar room in the middle of the map. It is also easy to jump onto. You must be careful not to move in the corner or Molly will grab through the wall.
Jump stacking the third floor stairs will give you access to an out of bounds area. From here, you can drop in to rooms like the East/West dorms and the Pantry, Morgue and Cell. (Be careful to get your keys first, or you will be soft locked). You can also drop down to the first floor, or into the void, which will teleport to the elevator.
You can use the stairs that lead up from the Food Court and to the second-floor to climb on top of adjacent walls, allowing you to go further out of bounds.
The Inn
100% Safe Spots
Azazel, spiders and other insects are not a threat to these spots. You do not need to move.
You can reach the rafters from the back of the onsen. Just make sure you jump only half way up and not all the way, or your head will hit the roof.
From the roof, you can reach this spot by stacking on the steps below. It is a difficult jump to land.
This spot is similar to the last jump in that it allows you to reach the roof. By stacking on the stairs, and aiming towards the right side of house, you can walk around the house and return to spawn.
You can also get to the top of the Onsen by stack-jumping on the stairs below. Be careful not to go overboard when stack-jumping, as the middle of onsen roofs is permeable, and you may fall through. You can also drop down to an invisible platform by getting to the top of the onsen. This allows you to avoid the web Zara places between the house and the onsen.
You can access the same invisible platform and walkway that you used for the previous jumps by stepping out from the side of the home.
It is possible to revive the player from this spot. Just be careful to not move too far away from the corner, as she can grab you if you’re too close.
Indefinite Safe Spots
You must move around to confuse Azazels and spiders.
This will force Zara, who is unable to cross this gap, to go around. Doing this quickly will cause Zara to spin out and lose you. Doing this slowly will allow her to stay focused on you longer and let your team do better. This spot is weaker in the late game because there are usually spiders on both sides.
This is the only way to avoid her if she is coming for you. It is more reliable than hiding in a closet. This strategy is only recommended for experienced players. If you are a new player, hiding in closets will be fine.
The Town
NOTE – Although all spots are “safe”, Sam can still shoot you there. Just make sure to dodge.
100% Safe Spots
Azazel’s minions and other enemies cannot reach these spots without you having to move.
You can stack jump on the Sheriff’s steps to reach the General Store roof by clipping through the upper roof.
By stack-jumping on the gallows steps, you can reach a invisible platform above the out-of-bounds area outside of the fence. From here, you can walk around the other side of church. Just be careful not to get too close to fence or you’ll get stuck and become “soft locked”, as shown in the picture 3.
This spot is very strange, and I haven’t been able to do it myself (possibly due to the fact that i was hosting the game). This spot can cause ghosts and Sam to get stuck on you. In the picture, my friend abuses the spot without moving, however, I have seen other players move side to side in order to be safe.
Indefinite Safe Spots
You must move around to confuse Azazel or ghosts in these spots, which are not completely safe.
This spot is similar in nature to the log or cage on Farmhouse, where you have to move sideways to confuse Sam (this becomes more difficult as he gets faster).
The Slaughterhouse
100% Safe Spots
Azazel’s minions and other enemies cannot reach these spots without you having to move.
It is harder than it seems to drop onto this wall. The wall is slippery at first, so you need to hold on to it to stay on top.
The cage wall is slippery too, and if you land on the corner (where gate meets wall), you can reduce the effect. However, you must still hold onto the middle.
It is possible to revive yourself from this spot, but be careful not to get grabbed by the wall when moving.
Indefinite Safe Spots
You must move around to confuse Azazel or ghosts in these spots, which are not completely safe.
This last spot will make you invulnerable against Azazel and boars as long as you never stand still and jump side to side. You can also do this on the grinder part, just be careful when it is fueled not to stand there.
