Q and A

Q: I want to register the game with Steam, can I still play the CD version (for whatever reasons)?
A: yes

Q: I have registered my CD version may I sell the CD?
A: I am not a licensing expert but assume this is not legal. The thing is that your license is the CD copy that entitled you to register it at Steam. If you sell the CD version and the key you sell this license.

Q: why is it even possible that one can register old games with Steam?
A: This is not the first time. It also worked with Half-Life etc. The reason why it was introduced is the closure of Gamespy, many years (decades ago). With this the game lost the MP feature and some people compensated it with VPN tunnels to their friends. Not very practical and VPN is not safe by design.

Q: Do you have more questions?
let me know in the comments I might add them here.
