This guide will explain how to turn a image into a blueprint that can then be loaded in game using a tool I created called Scrap Mechanic Blueprint Image Creator (Quite I mouthful I know) or SMBIC for short

Getting the tool

Scrap Mechanic Blueprint Image Creator (SMBIC)

Installing:
1. Download SMBIC.zip from github.com – https://github.com/Nova1545/ScrapMechanicBlueprintImageCreator/releases/tag/1.0
2. Unzip SMBIC.zip
3. Run SMBlueprintImageCreator

Using the tool

The tool is quite simple to use

1. Select image of choice
2. Pick size (between 0 and 256) for both width and height
3. Pick a block type
4. Click Create!
5. Open Scrap Mechanic and search for the name of the blueprint in your lift (If it doesnt spawn make it smaller in SMBIC, its some werid limit the game puts on blueprints and I have yet to get around it)
6. Back up and admire your image

If you installed Scrap Mechanic somewhere (different hard drive, etc) else other than “C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common”:

Simply click “Set Game Dir” and navigate to your Scrap Mechanic folder, the program will then restart and you should be good to follow the above steps

Having issues or want a feature?

If your having a problem with SMBIC go to the github and create an issue or leave a comment and I will try and help

Have a feature you want?
Got to github and create a issue describing the feature you want and I will look into it

Extra Info

Q: I don’t see my blueprint in game?
A: If you created the blueprint while the game was running restart it and you should then be able to find it on the lift

Q: Why is the size of the blueprinted image limited to 256×256?
A: For some reason anything larger than this and the game simply wont load the blueprint, I dont know why and Ive tried to get around this but have yet to find a way

Q: What is the BlocksCache.json file for?
A: To promote speed and so I dont have to manualy add the blocks the game has, SMBIC will create a json file containing all of the blocks (Wood, Metal, Concreate) names and UUID’s (Way the game and mods identify blocks and parts)

Q: Game update? New Blocks added? Want to use them for the building block of your image?
A: Simply just delete the BlocksCache.json file and restart the SMBIC

If you use this to create a blueprint of an image and upload it to the workshop please credit the github/guide in the description
