Hi, welcome to this post. In this guide, we will tell you all about RIDE 5 – How to Edit System Files Following this guide step by step.
This game (Ride 5) was just released, and after spending several hours playing it, I noticed the same textures present as those found in Ride 4. While less pervasive than Ride 4, these can still be found around trees/bushes/grass, and bikes that are further away.
If you need a more comprehensive explanation, I recommend reading my Guide to Ride 4.
Introduction
This small guide is a copy/paste of my Ride 4 guide for improving visuals, as it addresses the same minor issues in Ride 5 as in 4.
Please look at the following guide for a more in-depth comparison and a guide.

Editing System Files
We’ll now edit the game.ini files in order to increase the draw distance and overall visual quality.
Ride 5 must be launched at least once.
1)
This directory is accessible:
C:\Users \*username* \AppData\Local\ride5\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
If you are unable to locate it, you can enable “view hidden files” in Windows Explorer or press “windows +” +” to open the prompt and copy this:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\ride5\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
2)
Click “Engine.ini” in Windows Notepad. (Or click “Engine” in case you don’t see the extension in the ini).
3)
Add these lines at the bottom of the blank line.
[/script/engine.renderersettings]
r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=1
r.Streaming.HLODStrategy=2
r.TemporalAA.Upsampling=1
r.MaxAnisotropy=16
r.ViewDistanceScale=5
r.motionblurquality=0
r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale=0
foliage.LODDistanceScale=50
r.SkeletalMeshLODBias=0
r.Shadow.CSM.TransitionScale=2
r.Shadow.CSM.MaxCascades=8
r.Shadow.DistanceScale=2
r.Shadow.MaxCSMResolution=4096
r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.05
r.EmitterSpawnRateScale=2
r.SSR.Quality=4
r.MaterialQualityLevel=1
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1
personally I hate motion blur in racing games so I fully disabled it with the line “r.motionblurquality=0” so if you also want to disable motion blur add the aformentioned line to the list.
I’ve also added this line to make the overall picture of the game a bit more sharp, but that’s just a personal preference.
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1
Save the file
4)
Click on engine.ini and then select properties. Select “read-only” to ensure that the game can’t reverse your changes.
5)
Next open “GameUserSettings.ini” go to the bottom and change all numbers to 5 making it like this:
[ScalabilityGroups]
sg.ResolutionQuality=100.000000
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=5
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=5
sg.ShadowQuality=5
sg.PostProcessQuality=5
sg.TextureQuality=5
sg.EffectsQuality=5
sg.FoliageQuality=5
sg.ShadingQuality=5
Based on what I’ve read about Ue4, changing these values to five will enable the “cinematic textures” feature, allowing users to alter the graphic enhancements described above.
Please save the file, as well as making it read-only.
The pop-up texture from other bikes, riders and grasses will be removed.
It will also increase the resolution of shadows and increase the shadow distance a bit more effectively.
If you are experiencing an issue with performance, You can substitute “4096” with “2048” by following these steps:
r.Shadow.MaxCSMResolution=4096
r.Shadow.MaxResolution=4096
If you followed the steps and followed the instructions, your two.ini file should look something like this:
