These aren’t necessarily the best solutions or intended to be optimal, just serve as solutions to complete the levels. I’ll also try and provide a short list of the “genes” I’ve used in each level to help if you’re struggling reading the icons.
 
 

Game Explanation

I don’t normally explain the games but I feel it makes sense to this time, so you know what you are doing. Essentially, this is a very basic Cellular Automaton – [wikipedia.org]  – akin to Conway’s Game of Life. Understanding this isn’t necessary to complete the game, just it’s interesting to know the “history” of it.
 
 
The aim of the game is to recreate the specimen on the right side of the screen. To do this, you must provide rules for your cells. These rules are at the bottom of the screen and represented by the DNA strand – each “gene” is a specific behaviour the cells will follow. You are essentially creating your own “game of life”.
 
 
Important to note – these are not “steps” or “instructions” – They are not carried out sequentially, but rather all at once – the left-to-right order is simply the priority these are done in. One cell can only perform one action in one turn – and it will perform the first action it is able to do, in order from left-to-right. This also matters if two cells would perform an action that would fill the same “space” on the grid – The left-most behaviour takes priority. This means that the order that these genes are in can often be very important, so be sure to follow it during the guide..
 
 
If you copy the guide exactly, gene-for-gene, you should complete all levels. But of course, feel free to modify parts to try and make them more efficient if you’re interested in such a thing – just bear in mind it’s not the point of this guide.
 
 
Finally, please take note of the starting position of the seed in the first “stage of development” on each level. The initial position is hugely important and drastically alters how things develop. Move it with the arrow icons to match.
