Does anybody play this 14 year old game anymore? Regardless here’s some tips!

Tips

Hello, here are some tips for this trippy tower defense game!

Aa is not your friend

Whenever Aa kills an enemy you don’t get any cash for it, so it’s best to try to kill the enemies before they get into the range of Aa’s towers

Endless levels

Whenever you kill an enemy a new stronger enemy spawns. So if you put all your points at the beginning of the path, the difficulty of your enemies will go up incredibly fast. So for the endless levels it’s best to put all your points towards the end of the level.

Trial and Error

Some points are not good as you think and the only way to figure out which points are good is just to experiment. I used to be a huge fan of the courage point, because it deals a lot of damage and it hits multiple enemies at once. But then I started to experiment and replay levels with different point configurations and I realized that basically all the other points are far more cost-efficient (if you need aoe damage you’re better of building cut, ortho or circuit points). All in all the 4x speed button is your friend, allowing you to quickly playtest levels with different configurations until you figure out what works best.

MEDALS

Blinding Medal- to me it feels like this medal does almost nothing, I wouldn’t activate it (if you have more medals than you can activate)

Most bosses give you a really good medal if you beat them at 100% difficulty, so try to go for that!

Impossible placement

This doesn’t help too much, but it’s a neat glitch. You can place the danmaku point on top of the path. First hold down the mouse button, then drag it quickly accross the screen and let go while you’re over the path. And if you’re lucky it will work and the point will be placed in that position (works maybe 2% of the time)

Also the ingame help has some good tips and explanations of some hidden mechanics.

Towers

Fear Point:

Lvl7 Fear Point is probably the best point in the game, slowing all the enemies down to a crawl, massively lowering their defense and dealing a decent amount of damage itself. Just try it and you’ll be surprised how easy some levels get.

Courage Point:

meh

Ortho Point:

pretty good. Don’t forget that its shots deal aoe damage

Cut Point:

Surprisingly good point, only problem is that its a bit unreliable, because of its slow shot pattern.

Limited Point:

the limited point is not that cost efficient, so I’m not a huge fan. However it’s decent on some levels because they’re really good against enemies like the dark shield.

Love Point:

It’s a cheap way to boost your defense, but I would keep it at level 1 in most levels

Circuit Point:

Best source of aoe damage.

Pride Point:

Usually not worth upgrading, but very cost-efficient as a level 1 Point.

Strategist Point:

Usually not worth upgrading, but pretty cost-efficient as a level 1 Point.

Turning Point:

Dunno, I never experimented too much with it. Seems good.

Danmaku Point

It’s not that cost-efficient. And the irregular attack patterns make it easy for enemies to slip through. If you have the triangle Medal it’s a no-brainer to use a lvl1-danmaku whenever you can, but even then I wouldn’t upgrade it.

Ducks

Here’s a picture of some ducks I took:

Difficult Levels

XXIX (29): Use your love points to boost Aa’s limited point and hope it doesn’t get destroyed by the Brother Bavakh.

XXX (30): You’re not supposed to beat this one. So just build nothing and you “win”. If you wanna get the achievment for killing the supposedly unkillable boss, set the difficulty to zero and heavily invest in Turning Points.

XLV (45): Build a level 7 circuit point at the edge of the map, somewhere where no hate points are in reach, then use it together with your cursor to eaily kill the graveship

L (50): Don’t just blindly upgrade all the pride points but only those which damage has grown really high from the kills. Whenever a pride point kills an enemy, it gains a portion of their max health as attack, so weaken those big-a*s squalors with your cursor, but be careful to not steal the kill from your pride points.

LXXIV (74): Circuit Points are pretty good here because they don’t get targeted by the disabling beams.

LXXXV(85): Probably the hardest level in the game. I had to look up the winning strategy which is to pin two turning points in place by surrounding them with love points. And then upgrade them as much as you can. Put the rest of your points in the corner of the map to distract the bugs. LXXXV(86): The one level where it’s worth it to upgrade the strategist point to level 7. Make sure to tag every enemy with it once. If you’re struggling with this level a lot, replay the previous level at 0 difficulty so you have more cache.

Unlocking the “secret” last campaign: I don’t know what the exact mechanics are, but it involves beating almost all levels with 100% success at 100% difficulty.
