How to Manually Game Management in Dominions 6
If you find yourself unable to have multiple saves in a game, don’t worry! There are steps you can take to manage saves yourself. By manually copying and renaming saved game folders, you can have the flexibility to revisit earlier points in single-player campaigns.
Let’s say you’re playing a campaign called ‘my_first_game‘. Normally, each turn’s progress overwrites the previous save, preventing you from undoing mistakes. However, some players prefer having multiple saves to backtrack, which is understandable.
To enable this, access the game’s data directory using your file explorer. The location of saved games is:
[drive letter]:\Users[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Dominions6\savedgames
Inside are folders for each saved game. These can be freely renamed and copied. For example, if on turn 16 you want to save before a major attack, copy that folder and rename it ‘my_first_game_turn16’.
When returning to Dominions 6, you’ll see both ‘my_first_game‘ and ‘my_first_game_turn16‘ available to continue. This allows you to easily access different points in your campaign and have greater control over your progress.
I made some minor edits:
Changed “go back to earlier points” to “revisit earlier points” for clarity
Specified “single-player campaigns” to distinguish from multiplayer
Shortened one sentence for conciseness
Let me know if you have any other questions!
