HELLDIVERS 2 – How to Use Stratagems on Keyboard & Mouse Setup Razer Users
Helldivers 2 requires quickly calling in stratagems even when on the move. Doing this fluidly with a keyboard and mouse can be challenging, but with the right gear and keybindings, you can seamlessly use stratagems while sprinting. Here is a guide to setting up an optimal Helldivers 2 keyboard and mouse config for maximum stratagem mobility:
Recommended Gear
For the keyboard, the Razer Tartarus V2 gaming keypad is ideal. It has a spacebar, circular button, and D-Pad under your thumb, allowing more input options compared to standard keyboard thumb keys.
The mouse should have at least two side buttons. The Razer Naga Pro is a great choice with its 6-button side panel. More buttons means less finger movement to trigger stratagems.
Keybindings
On the Tartarus V2, bind the D-Pad to the arrow keys. Since Helldivers 2 uses arrow keys for entering stratagem codes, this makes inputting them with your thumb easy while leaving your left hand free for moving with WASD.
Bind a side mouse button as the stratagem menu key. Holding this brings up the menu without needing to stop moving. The other side buttons can be used for weapons swapping to avoid reaching across the keyboard.
Additional Tips
Having a dedicated map button separate from the Tab prevents accidentally opening Steam overlay.
Practice sprinting in circles while calling in stratagems until the process feels seamless.
With this thumb-focused setup, you can swiftly request reinforcements, ammo drops, or barrage strikes even while dodging enemies. It takes some adjusting from a normal keyboard, but soon calling down ‘hell from above’ while diving away from a bug horde becomes second nature.
The key is putting as much utility under your thumb as possible so your left hand solely focuses on moving your character. This way, Helldivers 2’s frantic pace never forces you to choose between sprinting and supporting your squad with essential stratagems.
