Fix for GameUserSettings.ini Issues in Palworld

I know how frustrating it can be when you try to play your favorite game, and it crashes your computer completely. But don’t worry – there’s an easy fix you can try to get things running smoothly again!

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. First, find the GameUserSettings.ini file on your Windows PC. You’ll see it here: C:\\Users\\<YourUsername\>\\AppData\\Local\\Pal\\Saved\\Config\\Windows. If you can’t find the AppData folder, just search “%localappdata%” in the file explorer search bar.
  2. Once you locate the file, right-click and choose “Edit”, or double-click to open it in Notepad or another text editor. If the file is blank, move on to the next step. If there’s already text there, make a backup copy first before making any changes.
  3. If GameUserSettings.ini is empty, add this:
     [script/pal.palgamelocalsettings] bRunedBenchMark=True

    Then save your changes.

  4. Try launching the game again – it should now open without crashing your computer.

If it still crashes after trying the steps above, then there may be a different issue happening. In that case, I’d recommend backing up the file and reaching out for more troubleshooting help.

Feel free to tweak this guide and pass it along to anyone else having similar game launch problems. Some graphics cards may not fully work with Unreal Engine games, leading to crashes. But this ini file fix should help get things smoothed out in many cases.
