After the latest patch – [steamdb.info]  the downloadable weapons denies to be enabled even when it’s set as equiped in the game menu. Follow the steps in this guide to be fixing it.

Getting ready

1. Get in hands your game’s activation key:
 

• Go to your Steam Library – [steampowered.com]  and look for the game [Alice: Madness Returns];
• Right click on it, select Manage, then CD keys;
• A window will pop up showing your product key. Copy it to clipboard.

 
2. Activate the game on Origin:
 

• Log into your Origin account and redeem – [origin.com]  the game with the code you copied to clipboard.

 
3. Get the fixed file:

Final steps

4. Backup the old file:
 

• Go to your steam game directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Alice Madness Returns\Binaries\Win32 ;
• Create a new folder and name it ‘Backup’;
• Move the file AliceMadnessReturns.exe to the created folder.

 
5. Move the new files:
 

• Extract the content of the zipped file you’ve downloaded;
• Look for the new ‘AliceMadnessReturns.exe’ and a second file entitled ‘AliceMadnessReturns.par’;
• Move them to the original game directory.

 
6. Execute the Game:
 

• When you open the game a new window might pop up asking for your EA account credentials;
• Log in with your Origin e-mail and password;
• Now you can finally play Alice Madness Returns with any of the DLC weapons in hands. Have fun!

 
 
 

Final considerations

Please, take this method as temporary and consider that sooner or later the game might be patched again fixing or not this issue.
