Game Guide

Achievements:

ROLY-POLY

This one can be unlocked automatically by the guard looking at it without a bed of sawdust.

EXPLOITER

This is possible by straightening the spoon out. You’re “exploiting”, that ants labors, by sticking the spoon in its way.

DISTRACTOR
You can use the spoon to instantly unlock the door while the guard is preoccupied. All the way to your right, buried in the walls, is the twisted spoon. You must position the spoon in the upper area where an ant is breaking the stone there in order to undo it.

Next, remove all of the grime. One is immediately beneath each of the “upper apartments.” The guard will require a diversion in order to remove the pile from beneath his boots. You can progress on to the next level and earn the ROLY-POLY achievement by completing all of these tasks in one go.

SNEAKY THIEF

You will find the last pile in the far right area. Wait for the ant to close his eyes, then use your spoon to gain the thief achievement.

 
DELEGATOR

Use the spider thing five times with your dog thing.

COWARD

There are two paths that you can take on the tree branches. One is up, one is down. Both paths feature crows. The nest is located on the bottom. If you get too close to an ant man, it will run off. Continue doing this over and over until your achievement is achieved.

CLUMSY

This one is too obvious to notice. It occurs automatically by you repeatedly falling and tripping. If you fail to get this, and you’re almost done with it, you could walk around the map in circles until your trip is over.

DJ

Another story-based achievement. Listen to the ipod’s various tracks until the spider begins dancing to the 3rd track.

SYCOPHANT

You can get this by giving Grandma a glass if water.

Syco means fig and phant “to show”, so “fig discloser”. It’s Greek and refers to someone who serves others. Ref:

STINKY

This is by farting. This was accomplished by repeatedly moving the acorns in a tree. However, there are several locations in the game that can trigger the reaction in the ant man. You can also move the sleeping pill at grandma’s place later in the game. This achievement is only possible if you trigger it five times.

Interesting note: I couldn’t get the achievement by using just the acorns. I got 4/5. Grandma had to wait for me to get her water.

BULLY

This is achieved by being a bully. I don’t know whether they’re suggesting the player is a bully, or the ant being a bully. This achievement is earned when the antman rolls his eyes at it enough times. I was able easily to cheese this by using the rock/pebble/rock over and over on the dog’s food bowl. There are many other ways to achieve it.

SMART PTS

This can be done by completing a game.

 
SLUGGISH

This requires you to spend 150 hours in the game. (There’s a counter saying?/150, which is how you can check for this achievement. It’s not difficult to beat this game in less time so if you want cheese it, just go afk while you’re playing. Or, I did what I did and started a new one after I had finished it. I solved some of the first puzzles to get to the end.

Note that you won’t receive the achievement if your are not actually playing the game. Id est, it is impossible to get the achievement by just looking at the title screen. The ant must be actually in your control. It is not clear how far into the game you can get this counter to start. Personally, I just played until the ant hill was gone and then just stood there waiting to write my review and create this guide.

General tips:

Some of these things will glitter in front of your vision like in a hidden object game. (HOG). As you must use each of these things to finish the game, keep an eye out for hidden objects. I had no idea that you could gather one of those branches and use it to make a bow and arrow and shoot a crow to retrieve your iPod.

Some remedies call for your participation, while others call for the ant men’s participation. Sometimes, this seems to make no sense. It might be necessary to use the player’s godly abilities to get past the sentry, such as clicking on the root to divert their attention. A new device might require a combination of things from your inventory. Or, the ant might require your proximity to carry out a task, like when you severed the rope at the acorn, in order for it to act.

The cursor is your friend. The cursor will adjust depending on what type of action is being performed in that section. It does a little animation with its legs to show that you can click there to walk to the point on a map. If it points in a direction, it will try and navigate to the next map from that direction. If your hand is tense, you can grab that item. To understand what you can do, you can use the information from the cursor.

You might hover over the objects in a scene to see if they are items that you can collect. Perhaps you see a rose and want to pick it out. If your cursor doesn’t move to the “pinching” motion, then that may not be an item you are able to collect. However, this can sometimes be finicky. Maybe the item you are trying to collect has a small “pinching” motion. If so, you will need to align your mouse perfectly to pick it. I didn’t have to deal with this issue very often, but it is possible to miss the hitbox or scroll down too fast and not notice that your cursor changed.

Speed tips:

Objects that glow golden and are environmentally friendly can be used. Technically, you could attempt all of the items in various areas to brute force the answers to puzzles. If you know you’ll need to use a specific item in that area of the map, you could just attempt them all. That could be much faster than attempting to work out the logic on your own. This may ruin the enjoyment.

Double pressing will accelerate the process. The antman will sprint if you double-click while walking. You shouldn’t spam it, though, because it causes the running animation to appear numerous times. Double-click the farthest spot, wait for your character to move closer, and then double-click again. You should not keep the cursor button pressed. The game will only record hits.

When switching between maps, double-clicking will immediately transport you to that area. If the cursor switches between maps, this will not function. The vine leading to Grandma’s home exemplifies this. If you double-click too quickly, your character will start climbing up the vine. Before skipping the animation, wait until the cursor is heading downward. The next map will be installed right away.

Because this is a slow-paced game, perseverance is required. If you attempt to make it go faster than it is supposed to, you will be disappointed. It should be a relaxed stroll through the park, not a quest for achievements. Enjoy the trip, and enjoy yourself!
