Was unironically more pumped for this release than Cyberpunk

A new twist on the original formula keeps this sequel both challenging and engaging.

This game is good, I think the characters and character interactions are a lot better in this then they were in the first game, however the actual gameplay of this is much slower. The game needs the option to change your save file’s settings mid-game. Take this with a grain of salt cus I’m generally not that great at match-3 games but this game is much harder than the first one. The actual h*ntai part of it is about the same quality which is good. Overall I very much would recommend this game.

Very refined game I do say so myself. Was worth the wait. I am a man of culture you see.

The only problems I’ve had so far have been purely technical. Upon moving pieces there’s an animation that plays where pieces in the way will slide off the board. My problem with this is the pieces often don’t return. I can only hope this isn’t a feature based on the fact the game won’t reset you when you have no moves available. Shortly after resetting and dealing with that problem by ignoring it, I ran into my second softlock. The first “end card” refused to go away for me, no button input would remove it from my screen and unlike the first game, an X did not appear to allow me to close it. I like these devs. They take a simple Idea like p*rn game and make it funny enough that I actually laugh with the writing rather than at it. I hope the technical problems can be patched soon.

Giant step back from the first game.
The first game had charming simplicity, the gameplay in this one is over-designed and often just plain frustrating.

The progression system is just a complete mess, with the difficulty ramping up way faster than the game’s randomised shop will offer you the necessary upgrades to keep pace.
The “baggage” system is game-breakingly hard, requiring you to invest more resources to neutralise the handicap it represents than talking to the girls frees up for you; and requiring you to manage inventory acquired *randomly* from a shop before you start a puzzle to even hope to use the equipment effectively.

Because the inventory system is so randomised, and because the slots available to use items are limited until you progress, and because the cost to use inventory items is ridiculously high and requires you to unlock the currency with the girls before the puzzle mode even starts, and because its tied to a load of overlapping systems, it’s an unpleasant grindy cumbersome experience. Maybe it’s supposed to be rogue-like or something?

Either way it just seems like a time-sink.

The puzzle gameplay is nowhere near as much fun as the first game – there’s far fewer multi-tile possibilities. I’ve found myself constantly connecting three pieces and going “Is this it? Why the hell isn’t it giving me anything to work with?!?” In the original, I’d be setting up combos galore and having power tokens drop like crazy, not here because in HuniePop2 there’s no fun allowed – you’ve got to wait for the shop to sell you the right buffs…

Mostly a silly harmless s*x themed puzzle game, of which I was a fan of the first one. However, their attempts to appeal to their audience with the Polly character feel a bit heavy handed, with one of the character’s main personality traits being that she tells you she’s a girl over and over. And then they go to make her bonus costume’s code to unlock: “EXCUSE ME ITS SIR”.

Yikes. It’s one thing to poke fun at stereotypes but… Don’t punch down, y’know? It’s one thing to make a joke about a weeb or a sugar baby, those are hobbies or lifestyle choices that have plenty of funny quirks to point out, but are ultimately harmless. As things stand though, trans and LGBTQ matters still face heavy discrimination worldwide, even as far as a death penalty in some countries. Seeing these kind of mocking things just… It doesn’t feel good for anybody except the people making the jokes.
