Welcome to Super Kiwi 64 – Secret Rune Codes and Locations Guide. This useful guide will show you how to get each rune code that can be found in the levels briefly and simply explained in this guide, along with how it affects you.
How do I enter the codes?
Once you have collected all 48 power stones at levels 1-8, the main hub’s sewer pipe will be open. The pipe opens to take Kiwi to a simpler level. The centerpiece is a monument with 5 buttons at its top. To input codes, you must attack the runes according to the order in which they are shown in a code.
I will provide numbering orders for codes and smaller images of codes as they are found in-level throughout the guide. I have numbered each symbol as such from left to right:
Although most codes will override one another, you can deactivate all active codes by simply entering a random combination that does nothing.
Area 1
The code for Area 1 transforms the playable character into a dog that will help you get off the island. This change does not affect gameplay.
The code in numbers is:
2, 4, 3, 5, 1
This code can be found in the hollowed-out tree.
Area 2
The code for Area 2 visually doubles Kiwi when it is entered. Despite the visual change in size, Kiwi’s hitboxes are the same.
The code in numbers is:
4, 1, 2, 5, 3
This code can be found on the port side the overgrown ship.
Area 3
The code for Area 3 transforms the playable character into one the robot enemies found throughout this game. This change is only visual and does not affect gameplay. It depends on how much screen space you take up.
The code in numbers is:
1, 4, 2, 3, 5
This code can be found behind a wall when you approach the final slope of the boiler.
Area 4
It’s a fun one! The code for Area 4 applies moongravity to all movements of Kiwi when it is entered!
The code in numbers is:
3, 5, 1, 2, 4
This code can be found on the right side, between two pipes, of the main tower.
Area 5
The code for Area 5 transforms the playable character into one the state switches within the level. This change does not affect gameplay.
The code in numbers is:
5, 4, 1, 3, 2
This code can be found behind the left-side entrance wall to the right-side room that houses water platforms, and is located at the two paths to unlock a wall.
Area 6
The code for Area 6 is inputted and a temporary pipe appears next to the code input platform. This temporary pipe leads to a bonus level. The pipe stays until the code input area is cleared.
Unlocked is a miniature version of the map from Kiwi 64. This game pays homage to Rare’s N64 platformers and was released by Siactro on itch.io in 2020. This area contains the game’s 50th powercell, located atop the mountain’s peak. It is also home to a model Kiwi from the original game.
The code in numbers is:
1, 3, 2, 5, 4
This code is a little more difficult to find, as one rune for each floor is located on the coffin at the centre. Enter the runes from highest to lowest to get the full code. These runes have been compiled into one image to make it easier for you to see.
Area 7
The code for Area 7 transforms the playable character into an energy cell when it is entered. This change is only visual and does not affect gameplay.
The code in numbers is:
3, 1, 4, 5, 2
This code can be found on the backside the rock formation, with a chest above it:
Area 8
Another fun one! When you input the code for Area 8, the player is put into first-person mode. This doesn’t change gameplay, just like the other ones. You still attack in the same direction you moved, and not the direction you are facing.
This code is only visual but you can combine it with other effects!
The code in numbers is:
2, 1, 3, 5, 4
This code can be found on the wall of a nearby rock platform.
Outro
One last thing: Did you know that crouch is the game’s code? You can try pressing the [ctrl] keys! You will get a noticeably higher jump than a regular jump if you jump from a crouch.
