So you don't need to see the PS4 icons
 

Intro

Yakuza Kiwami 2 was originally made for the PS4 and then was ported to PC and Xbox. This is why the Switch Pro Controller uses PS4 button icons. Also, this game does not have Switch support.
 
 
If you are like me and want actual letters displayed instead of shapes, this is how you can do it.
 
 
 

1. Downloading the mod manager

Modifying the game is necessary to accomplish this feat. RyuModManager is required to make this happen.
 
 
It is not possible to explain how it works here. Everything should be explained on its GitHub page.

If you don't feel like reading, I will explain it faster.
 
 
1. Download the latest release
 
 

 
 
The latest version is currently 2.1. You just need to extract the contents from the zip in the YK2 executables folder. This default should be 2.1.
 
C:\Program Files (x86 – \Steam\steamapps\common\Yakuza Kiwami 2
 
 
2.Keep it running as it is
 
 
Run it until it does some things to set itself up. Once it has finished doing its thing, close it. You may have noticed that a folder called mods has been created. If not, you can create it yourself.
 
 
That's it for this step.
 
 
 

2. Downloading the mod

You will now need to download the mod that will replace the graphics.

You will find a folder called "Switch buttons" in the zip. This folder must be placed in your "mods” folder.
 
 
 

3. Loading the mod

After you have installed RyuModManager, the mod to change button icons, start RyuModManager again.
 
 
These are the things you should be looking for
 
 

 
 
Make sure you check the box next to the mod name (which is the name of the folder), and hit save.
 
 
 

4. Set up the controller

Finally, we must set up the controller correctly so that each button is mapped appropriately.
 
 
I recommend that you turn off the Nintendo Button Layout if you have it on. Don't worry if you don't know what it is.
 
 
Steam Input can be enabled in the game's properties
 
 

 
 
Make sure that the button layout is exactly as shown in the controller's settings (default Xinput settings).
 
 

 
 
 

5. Last tweaks

Now, launch the game.
 
 
If everything went well, you'll see that the PS4 buttons have been replaced by these sleek Switch-inspired buttons. Resetting the controls to default is an option. Alternativly, you can modify the controller configuration.
 
 

 
 

 
 
Please note that the game is intended to be played with this button layout.
 
 

 
 
Although it might seem strange that the B button is OK in general, it works in this series.
 
 
 

Closing

Disclaimer: I have not tested this fully. It could be There will be events and other stuff that will occasionally still use the PS4 buttons. Because I haven’t played the game yet (because it was too difficult for me to use the PS4 buttons), I spent a whole day learning how to do this. I came up with this solution. I will update the game as I progress through the game and discover more graphics that need to be changed. This should suffice for now.
