Proton is great, but Wrath is a little slow running on it. The solution? Compile a native Linux version!

Thanks to the fact that Wrath is based on the open-source Quake engine this is possible.

Howto

Step 1. Open a terminal in Wrath’s directory

Step 2. Run “git clone https://github.com/KillPixelGames/wrath-darkplaces.git” – [github.com]

Step 3. Run “cd wrath-darkplaces”

Step 4. Run “make sdl2-release”. And wait for it to compile (Make sure you have the development packages for libjpeg, libogg, libvorbis, libvorbisfile, libpng 1.6, libfreetype, libcurl, and libSDL2 installed)

Step 5. Once compiling is finished run “cp ./darkplaces-sdl ../”

Step 6. In steam go to Wrath’s properties and in “Launch Options” enter “(Path to Wrath’s directory)/WRATH/darkplaces-sdl” %COMMAND%

And if no problems have occurred, should have a working Linux version of Wrath.
