How to apply the fix

1. Download the fix using the self-extracting archive.

2. Navigate to the game folder on File Explorer
   • Click on “Browse …” under the tab titled “Local Files”.

     

3. Place the downloaded files directly into the main Game folder.
   • Click on “Extract” if you are using “Total WarSHOGUN 2.exe”.
   • If you are using a zip file, extract its contents into your game folder. DO NOT extract it into a different folder within the folder.
4. The data folder or “shogun2.retail.exe”, for example, should be in the same folder as the “_install.cmd”. Run “_install.cmd”. It will fix the problem.

After that, you should see the Mod Manager open when running the current version through Steam. (Running the game directly from the executable doesn’t work). You will see the improvements and changes made in the latest patch.

Having Problems with “shogun2.exe?”

If you continue to have issues with “shogun2.exe”, this is most likely because your AV has issues with signed certificate. Before running “_install.cmd”, you can verify that the AutoIt file [“shogun2.au3”) which you are converting into an executable with Aut2exe, is safe. It just launches the original Mod Manager and waits for it to close [RunWait(“launcher\ModManager.exe”)] before running the game [Run(“shogun2.retail.exe”)] and exiting itself [Exit]. Mod Manager uses pre-patch files and the game executable has been updated to the latest version.

You can try to make a.bat file, which you can then convert into a.exe called “shogun2.exe”, with one of many methods you can find in the internet. But you must do it on top of any of the methods you have already used, otherwise, you will not be able to access some of the necessary files. The code that you should place in the batch:

Alternate Method

You can also choose to go back to a previous version of the software if you are not concerned with performance and don’t mind being on an old version that may prevent you from playing multiplayer against players who have installed the new patch.
