The achievement sounds daunting. “Control all sources of a specific tradable good with merchants”. This can be extremely hard for any of the more common resources like gold, iron, wine or olive oil. But if you concentrate on the rare ones its easy. 
 
 
 
In the northern part of the map, the tradable good amber is available, in the Germanic territory. There’s only 2 of them. 2 merchants, thats all it takes. Stick a merchant on each and you’re done. There are other resources that are rare which can work equally as well, but I haven’t really looked for them. It’s hard to track them after the achievement has popped.
