Hi again! It’s HairlessPanda™ TheLoneSnake™ here. I’ll be using my PC account character BonelessDog™ TheLoneDog™ to guide you through making a TEC Smith. This is purely my personal opinion/way & some may disagree with it. It will only cover the BASIC stuff regarding TEC, but you can use it as guidance to have a feel of what you could do with your own character. Make it your way!

Prerequisites

To start, it is highly recommended to have a character of at least level 200 & a LUK Farmer. This is so that you can:

  • Unlock Smith Level 4
  • Unlock Alchemy Level 4
  • Able to farm material points easily using your farmer (As TEC char uses a lot of material points)
  • Able to unlock more craft options on NPC: Smith (to use as gears on your TEC char, since presumably you have completed MQ)

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Prerequisites - CAAA672

Note: I will be changing MQ to latest but since my main character has finished MQ, this means that I will not be able to get any EXP at all from MQ. This is why in my MQ Walthrough, it is recommended to fill up your character slot once you finished Chapter 3/4. But if you want to play the whole MQ again with SKIP, then you can do so as well

Tank or DPS?

There are multiple types of TEC Character. After maxing out TEC, some would go DEX, some would go INT & some would go VIT. (as far as I know)

The DEX Way

  • By going DEX, this means that their main damage skill will be Cross Fire & Sattelite Arrow
  • Able to have higher personal difficulty level as +6 DEX = +1 Diff Level
  • Able to craft Bowguns + Bow/OHS (with half of maximum potential)

The INT Way

  • By going INT, this means that they will be using Finale as their main damage skill
  • Able to craft Staff + Magic Devices (with half of maximum potential)
  • Able to use the character as a Support/Buffer in party

The VIT Way

  • By going VIT, they will be able to Tank as long as they hold aggro
  • Able to craft Armors (with some pot loss from maximum)
  • 2 slotted Armor sells better than 2 slot weapons (especially if it’s a fail craft)

Personally, I used to be a TEC/DEX smith since my main wanted to cap my Alchemy Proficiency.

However, it was reset to TEC/VIT as Tanks does not need to deal a lot of damage yet can remain useful in party if played right. (Of course there are DPS tanks, Motion tanks and others but let’s just focus on a TEC trying to tank)

A TEC ‘DPS’ on the other hand means that you will need to have good weapons and stat allocation to deal the best damage possible. (Since you need 255 TEC, that’s 255 stat points lost in term of damage)

But there’s no right or wrong, just what works for you! That’s the whole point of Toram isn’t it?

What can TEC character do?

TEC stat increases the success rate when production skill is being used. Production skills covers Refining, Crafting, Statting, Synthesizing. Every +2 TEC stats will increase your character’s Difficulty Level by +1. In overall, a TEC character will be able to:

  • Refine equipments with a better success rate than NPC: Smith
  • Craft gears (Player crafted gears are unstatted & each weapon type has its own stat for gaining potential)
  • Synthesize (Making buff potions & lock gears)
  • Customize player crafted gears by adding stats
  • Tame tamable monsters (Optional as my taming skills comes from Star-gems)

As I will be using VIT as my stat after maxing out TEC, from here on, I will only cover the VIT portion of it.

Getting the Skills Needed

These will be the skills I will learn at the Library:

  • Level 4 Blade Skills (Level 150)
  • Level 4 Shot Skills (Level 150)
  • Level 3 Mononofu Skills (Level 70)
  • Level 3 Guard Skills (Level 180, optional)
  • Level 4 Shield Skills (Level 110)
  • Level 3 Knight Skills (Level 125)
  • Level 4 Smith Skills (Level 200)
  • Level 4 Alchemy Skills (Level 200)

Skills I picked and learn at Level 1 so that I no longer need to visit the Library again later on

Getting the Gears!

For my weapon as a VIT/TEC, I will be using mostly NPC gears (if not all).

Good thing is that more often than not, being a Tank, gears are cheap as you do not need to worry about dealing damage, only holding aggro from mobs. I will be using the following gears:

  • Toy Hammer (1 handed, dropped from Nightmare Potum: Garden of Beginning)
  • Esca Shield (Craftable at NPC or Dropped from Hermit Doll: Heresy Corridor, has +AGGRO)
  • Demon Empress Garb (Craftable at NPC, or farm Venena Metacoenubia. Best to have 2, being Light & Heavy versions)
  • Dragoon Helm (NPC, materials obtainable from Suspicious Old Box from Finstern)
  • Dark Fighter Bangle (Buy from Consignment Board, its very cheap)

Note: These might not be the best gears, but it works. Some others gears can only be farmed during certain events.

Dark Fighter Bangle, cost me 2,000S and its even 1 slotted

Note: These items are fairly easy to obtain as a new player. You can slowly upgrade to other sets based on what you think your TEC character would need for tanking (Even my main account is not using any of these gears, but it is a good start)

Some Useful Emblems

Before leveling, do get the Daily Emblems for EXP to maximize your EXP gain while bossing.

  • Defeated 30 monsters 30 levels higher/lower than you. (+10% EXP for the day)
  • Defeated 20 monsters 20 levels higher/lower than you. (+10% EXP for the day)
  • Defeated 10 monsters 10 levels higher/lower than you. (+10% EXP for the day)
  • Played more than 30 minutes in total today. (+10% EXP for the day)
  • Played more than 60 minutes in total today. (+10% EXP for the day)

So that’s +50% and having a Level 200 character you will also get +15% for under Level 180 characters.

Level 1 to 60+

You may skip this part if you can continue MQ from Chapter 3 or 4. Just finishing an Episode on those chapter can jump you from level 1 to 50++

However, since I do not have MQ and decided to skip MQ altogether (Because its a new character slot after I finished MQ), this means that I have to level the character via mobs/bosses. (Or I could do MQ all the way from the start with SKIP, but nah…I lost count how many times I did that already over the years)

From level 1 you can do your Main Quest until you reach Eerie Crystal. From there you can follow as stated below.

At level 35 (this was from Otoshidama Battle – which already ended), I went to Eerie Crystal (Hard, level 34 Boss) and leveled up to 40 there. From 40 to 47 I used some extra Minotaur Skins I had on NPC: Lefina (Proof of Courage) & also farmed some Bitter Nuts & Nisel Woods.

You can farm some Bitter Nuts/Nisel Woods to use when your Main Quest have reached Nisel area. These items are used at Sofya NPC to gain some EXP when turned in. You can use your Farmer character to farm for the items and switch back to the TEC character when turning in the quest.

At 59, I bought 5 stacks of Nightmare Crystal to use at NPC:Lefina (Pride of the Rich) to level till 63.

Smith Skills

Note: Do not follow blindly, above is just a guide.

I did not get Decoy yet as well since the character would level fast enough (like +1 Level every 3-4 rounds with bossing, faster with books), so my 1.9K MP is enough at the moment.

For Smith/Alchemy skill tree, I will MAX out Refine first since adding stat limit is based on character level. Since I’m not yet adding stats, I also won’t need the smith proficiency for material reduction bonus.

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Level 1 to 60+ - 5A1F421

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Level 1 to 60+ - A70211B

With the 15 Skill Points (SP) I placed in refine, I was able to refine some of my gears to +E (+10). In fact, the character can refine better than NPC: Smith now!

Note: You do not have to actually refine the weapon, just personal preference (I like seeing all the refine to be the same)

Character Level 100

Continuing from level 64, I know that I can level at Masked Warrior. In fact, I can stay at Masked Warrior till level 95-96.

  • Level 64 to 74 (Normal, can solo with Attacker Mercs since you are Tanking)
  • Level 74 to 84 (Hard, get a party)
  • Level 84 to 95 (Nightmare, get a party)

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Character Level 100 - 618E43E

The Combo I will be using at Masked Warrior

  • Assault Attack -> Shield Cannon (Save) -> Trigger Slash (Add Swift if have enough CP)
  • Hard Hit -> Meteor Breaker (Save) -> Guardian (Add Swift if have enough CP)

Note: I also took the Shrine buff (I want to be popular!! for extra +Aggro)

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Character Level 100 - 303F46F

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Character Level 100 - 13E7448

Seems ok with aggro (had a finale in party too). Took about an hour to reach Level 96 from Level 64 (I used 2 books)

I’ll just used Nightmare Crystals to get it up to 100 but by all means if you have MQ, go ahead and use the EXP from there.

Now that I maxed out refine, I can use the TEC character to refine to +B, but ran out of ores

Basically I use:

  • Mithril Ores from +0 to +10 (+E), no need Anti-Degradation
  • Orichalcum Ores +10 to +13 (+E to +B), with Anti-Degradation

Note: I will be maxing out Synthesize Equipment & Technical Synthesis I next (to prepare for locking gears. Do farm/max your Medicine points using your LUK Farmer. Also farm Flower Nectars if you do not want to buy

Basic Info on Production

Before we train proficiency, let me briefly explain some of the production window stuff.

  • To check press P > Stats > Production
  • To use Press P > Skills > Use EX Skills

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Basic Info on Production - 28EFF6B

  • Item Level is what gives your proficiency EXP (the closer both of these are, the more EXP
  • Making something that is lower (by 10 levels) of your current proficiency level will not yield EXP
  • Difficult Level in white(left side) is your character’s difficulty level
  • Difficult level in bluish purple (right side) is the item’s difficulty level
  • You will not be able to make the item if your difficulty level is lower then item difficulty level

Your own difficulty level is calculated by:

  • Floor(TEC/2), meaning 255/2 round down = 127
  • Floor(Total DEX/6), meaning (your DEX stats + DEX from Gears + DEX from Avatars) / 6
  • Your current proficiency level, 1:1, example proficiency level 83 = +83 difficulty level

Note: The above is also true for crafting equipment

Training Proficiency

I went to level up a bit at Masked Warrior (Ulti) & Cerberus (Nightmare). At Cerberus, do change your combos so that it doesn’t cause Interrupts.

Still tanking alright, stopped at Level 125 to finally train my Alchemy Proficiency

I added these with my newly gained Skill Points (SP) with some to spare

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Training Proficiency - 0E85177

At Proficiency Level 0, you only have 1 Lock. You get +1 Lock every +50 Proficiency Level

Note: I will be skipping Practice Revita since making the maximum 4995 takes too long (You can still do it for the first +12 ish levels in Alchemy, but be prepared to wait like 10-15mins for it to finish)

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Training Proficiency - F370F95

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Training Proficiency - 662EEE9

I’ll start with Revita III (it is normal to not get the full amount as the item is a level 50 item & we didn’t add full skill 10 on synth)

Note: Always make the maximum to get the best Proficiency EXP (Especially if Item Level is close to your own Proficiency Level)

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Training Proficiency - 234EA16

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Training Proficiency - 936CCFE

2nd & 3rd time (Notice how your successful potion craft gets more and more? That’s because the more higher your own Difficulty Level is compared to the Item Difficulty Level, the better success you get – will not drill deep into its exact detail but just FYI)

After making Revita III (full amount x4), you should be at Proficiency 53! Wow, that’s fast!

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Training Proficiency - 8574ADF

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Training Proficiency - 4C5CB13

Congrats, you now have 2 Lock! Let’s try making Revita III the 5th time and see!

Toram Online - Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character - Training Proficiency - 6EB94B5

On no! Only 491%? (That’s because your Alchemy Prof Level is 53 whereas Revita III item level is 50, now we got to make something higher to train our proficiency level)

This is my personal preference for Alchemy Proficiency (Mainly because I use them as well)

  • Level 1 – 50 (Revita III)
  • Level 50 – 85 (Vaccine III, can sell them))
  • Level 85 – 105 (Power Candy, can sell them)
  • Level 105 – 135 (Sorcerer’s Nostrum, Energy Pill, Revita VI)
  • Level 135 – 155 (Flower Nectar – Under Useful)

At proficiency level 150 you would have unlocked Lock 4 (Lock 5 isn’t 100% success so there is no need for it in the meantime)

Note: If you’re not getting 100% on Lock 4, do add SP to Technical Synthesis one at a time until it becomes 100% (If I remember correctly, need it at 7?)

Character Level 235

I reset all my skills points on my main account’s TEC character and will screenshot what I added below (Since previously I added skills that I don’t even use + Knight Skill wasn’t revamped then)

Note: Do not follow blindly! Use it only as a guide of what skills you might think you will need. The Star Gems and Registlets are optional but they do help out a bit. Demon Empress Garb is also better just that my main don’t have it.

Final Words

By now you should have a basic understanding of a TEC character. (Due to some time constraint, I will cut short other things that I wanted to add)

For the skill you might want to have when you are above level 200, do search online for TEC character builds as this walkthrough only somewhat covers skills to add in the mid levels.

Hope that the information above has been useful for you in making your first TEC character.

If you would like me to add any other sections that you might want some explaination on, feel free to comments. Cheers & Happy Toraming!

Note: I should probably add a section for basic info on statting right? Do comment if yes, cheers

I hope you enjoy the Guide we share about Toram Online – Crafting Guide + Making A TEC Character; if you think we forget to add or we should add more information, please let us know via commenting below! See you soon!
