tModLoader – How to easily kill desert scourge early game

Before the fight

 
Before the fight I would defeating king slime. I posted a guide for this in may, It should be easy to find. Repeat defeating him until you get the slimy saddle (necessary) and the slime hook (helpful). Make sure to get a decent weapon as well, one that pierces preferably. Some of the best are shown here. 
 
Weapons 
Mage: any staff, the higher tier the better. 
Ranger: an ebon/shade wood/gold/platinum bow with jesters arrows or a boomstick is good. 
Melee: mandible claws with fungal symiote, however, Arkhalis is even better if you can get it. 
Rouge: urchin stingers, gilded/gleaming dagger, or crystalline. 
Summoner: Stormjaw staff or slime staff is first choice, wulfrum staff is second. 
 
Armor; wulfrum is good for the fight, but jungle is better for mages. For all those crazy melees out there you can get molten, provided you survive. 
 
Accessories; Slimy saddle is a must. A cloud in a bottle is good. Luxor’s gift will help. 
Mage: mana regen potions are important. A wizard or diamond robe will also help. Make sure to use magic cuffs and mana flower. 
Ranger: just lots of jester’s arrows 
Melee: yo yo users can use white string and couterweight, and fungal symbiote for arkhalis/mandible claws 
Rouge: if you have defeated the desert scourge before then sand cloak is good 
Summoner: spirit glyph and wulfrum battery are your best options 
 
 

During the fight

 
Before you summon him make sure to be riding a slimy saddle mount. A potion of swiftness is good for this fight. When you summon him he will be off screen. When he is almost to you, make sure to jump. When you fall down it will do a good 40 damage. Make sure to stay on top of him for as long as you can, and use your weapons as well. When he goes a good ways underground make sure to move in the opposite direction he went. When he comes up he is dangerous as his head is in front, so avoid him during this phase. Make sure to keep moving along his segments so he doesn’t hit you. Follow these instructions and you will have a dead worm in less than two minutes. 
 
 

Aftermath

 
If you are in expert mode then you get the desert emblem, which is useful in exploring the sunken sea. The deep diver is an amazing, yet rare, accessory. Make sure to get you class weapon: 
Mage: Storm spray 
Ranged: Barrinade 
Melee: aquatic discharge 
Rouge: scourge of the desert, if you are lucky then the dune hopper is the best weapon in this point of the game. 
Summoner: Seabound staff 
Get Victide armor and weapons as well, and you are now overpowered.
