After many years there is no sign of KIVI DLC (kickstarter playable character), so this guide will show how to unlock him.
 
 

Let’s begin

Banner saga 3 has exclusive playable dredge character Kivi (Stoneguard Rank 10 Hero) with tank combat ability. It is only available to people who backed Banner saga 3 kickstarter or preordered the game.
 
 
After many yest, you still cannot get Kivi as DLC so here is little guide how to unlock him.This guide works with imported savefile from Banner Saga 2 or non imported.
 
 

 
Also this guide also unlocks kickstarter ingame item as: Sculptor’s Tools (passive Return the Favor ability) and others.
 
 
 

Unlocking Kivi

 
1. First you have to start Banner Saga 3 and start new game. You can start fresh or import save file from Banner Saga 2. Then after intro quit the game so the save file is created in your banner saga 3 folder.
 
 
2. Locate your save file named sav_chapter_16.save.json in your Banner Saga 3 save folder:
 
” %APPDATA% \TheBannerSaga3\Local Store\save\saga3 ”
 
 
3. open the savefile with text editor. You can use the one that comes with Windows (notepad), or use free notepad replacement (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/) – [] .
 
 
4. locate the line ” globalVars ” in the savefile. Be carefull, as there are two globalVars lines, the correct one is the first one.
 

 
 
5. next locate ” survival_reload_required “, that is under globalVars line.
 

 
 
6. Now delete anything with word UNLOCK between “survival_reload_required”: “false”, and varl_added”: “1”.
 

 
 
7. Now make new line below survival_reload_required”: “false and paste all the lines (code) from below linkhttps://pastebin.com/wvz45Rcj – [pastebin.com] 
 
 
8. The code should look as picture below. Save the file and start your game.
 

 

 
 
9. When you load your game if you did everything correctly, you already should have ingame items available to select during first battle.
