The Ascent – Game Stutter Issue Fix for DX12 – NVIDIA

Fix

This is a solution that comes from back when Control was having stuttering issues with DX12. I just tried it out and it works. The game seems to need some more optimizations in regards to overall performance but for now this definitely makes a difference.

• Click on the Windows Start Menu, search for Exploit Protection and open it.
• In the new window click on the Program Settings tab
• Click + Add Program to Customize
• Select Exact File Path
• Navigate to \steamapps\common\The Ascent\TheAscent\Binaries\Win64\ and select TheAscent-Win64-Shipping.exe
• In the window that appears scroll down to Control Flow Guard
• Check in Override System Settings, turn the setting off, then click Apply.

Other Option:

• Hit start menu and type “Defender”, it should bring up “Windows Defender settings” entry, so open it.
• If you use another AV software, you would naturally assume everything Defender related is disabled, and you would be wrong. If you use Defender, you will be brought to the Windows Defender Security Center
• straight away, but if you don’t, you will end up on a Settings page saying that Windows Defender is not available because it’s turned off. Click “Turn on Windows Defender Antivirus”
• Once you are in Windows Defender Security Center, Click App & browser control button
• Scroll all the way down, to Exploit protection, and click Exploit protection settings text 5, Once on Exploit protection page, set Control flow guard (CFG) to OFF.
• It will prompt you to restart your PC
• After the restart,enjoy your smooth Windows experience again.
