Planning

–
Use PLOT EDITOR MODE and its tools. It is a huge help. Use it to merge plots and make new ones with drawing tool. While editing it, think about the plan, what buildings do you want to build there etc.

–
Plan in your mind what buildings/type of buildings will be in block you are editing before building.

Here is a screen of block before plot editing ->

<- And here is the same one, after editing

As you see, I merged some small plots, also drew some new lines that would make this block more realistic

Buildings

–
Use buildings from the same groups, for example, if you want to make old town or smth like that, use Hausmann houses. To make it little more modern looking, place 1-3 modern offices (amount depends on block size). I usually use American bank, Art Deco and Hausmann Profit.

Here you can see how i made it.

– If you want to do some modern residential areas, make it in not strict central districts, also place them rarely between classical buildings, more often surround them with similar or the same modern block of flats.

Free space & what to do if you don’t have ideas for development

–
If you have weirdly shaped plot or a plot surrounded by buildings, place a terrain there, that means sandstone/grass/concrete etc. and place some benches there, it looks cool B-)

look how i made it. I made a big plaza with sanstone floor and benches with umbrella. Also next to it, hidden in U-shaped building is park with trees.

–
Parks are good tool also. Use them in open spaces, if you have big plaza, make a fountain park there, it looks nice. For smaller places use other park types (in my opinion the best park is windmill one, almost every time it makes tree).

Hope you enjoyed my tips, I will edit it sometimes and add some new tips & tricks I discover 😉
Leave like, and steam community award if you love my work 🙂

Cheers !!
