Gold ore is an early game ore which can spawn naturally as well as in treasures, and can be used in crafting. Its primary use is to make gold bars. Now lets move on to how we can actually mine it. Note that you will need to have a pickaxe with you before you can attempt to mine gold.

Step 1. Getting ready

Now this might be a little difficult for some new players, as they may be busy getting bullied by slimes near the spawn point. If you are having trouble with this, make sure to check out a guide on how to kill slimes. I’m sure there are relevant guides in our community.

Now that you’re ready to go mine some gold, you should know that gold may be replaced with platinum in some worlds. In this case, you may have to obtain it by some other means. If you’re still adamant about wanting to mine it, hop over to another world that has naturally generated gold ore.

Step 2. Locate gold ore

In my view, this is the most important part of mining gold, as you cannot mine it without finding it first, even if you knew how to mine it. For this step, I would recommend that you get some help if you want to get that gold ore fast. You can either co-operate with a friend to find it faster, or use a spelunker potion (which i prefer).

Step 3. Mining gold ore

Good job on getting all the way to the gold ore. Now its time for the final step. Hack at the gold ore with your pickaxe until it drops as an item which you can now pick up.

Congratulations!! 🙂 You’ve mined your gold ore, as i mind my own business. Hehe… Now go ahead and mine the rest of the gold ore vein. I hope this guide was helpful. Do let me know in the comments section if you would like me to create another terraria guide.
