Terraria – HOW TO KILL MOONLORD Summoner (Master Mode)

Armor/Accessories

 
* = Important 
Armor: 
 
Spooky Armor will work. Some people say to use Hallowed Armor, however, I would not recommend this. Spooky Armor gives higher DPS. If you have killed Moonlord before, you can mix stardust armor with Spooky Armor. 
 
 
Accessories: 
 
1. *Warding Soaring Insignia *SUPER IMPORTANT* 
2. *Menacing Fishron Wings (any other wings will do) 
3. *Warding Papyrus Scarab 
4. *Menacing Pygmy Necklace 
5. Menacing Summoner’s Emblem/Avengers Emblem (Either will do, can replace with a different accessory) 
6. Menacing Master Ninja Gear (Not too important, but can dodge Moonlord attacks if lucky) 
7. Warding Titan Glove (Not too important, but good for defense) 
 
Note: There should be 4 accessories reforged to Menacing and 3 reforged to Warding. It doesn’t matter which accessories are reforged. The reforges for accessories don’t matter too much for the fight, however. 
 
 

Weapons/Other Gear

 
Weapons: 
 
1. Kaleidoscope (should be reforged to Legendary, just make sure it is not a crappy reforge, it can make a difference of 100 damage in some cases) 
 
2. Terraprisma (Stardust Dragon will work, but killing Empress of Light in the day time is SUPER easy with Stardust Dragon) 
 
Other Gear: 
 
1. Rod of Discord (Now this will make the fight A LOT easier, however, it is possible to kill Moonlord without it. You can use a magic mirror to dodge deathray attacks if you don’t have a Rod of Discord) 
 
2. *Bewitching Table (Very important, you get one free summon) 
 
 

Potions

 
1. 1 Lifeforce Potion (Not Required, but makes the fight easier, the 100 extra health is not useful, however in some cases it can save you) 
 
2. *1 Swiftness Potion 
3. *1 Summon Potion 
4. 1 Ironskin Potion 
5. 1 Regeneration Potion 
 
6. 1 Resistance Potion (Not required, this potion is basically useless, however you might as well use it to make the fight slightly easier) 
 
7. At least 8 Super Healing Potions 
 
These are all the potions you need, the strategy we are going to use allows you to dodge most of Moonlord’s attacks. 
 
 

Overall Strategy

 
1. When it says Impending Doom Approaches, take note of the ingame time. After 40 ingame minutes use buff potions 
2. Make sure you have Bewitching Table buff 
 
3. Remember to spawn extra minions from Summoning potion buff and Bewitching table buff 
 
4. Once Moonlord spawns fly to the left, or right direction, but make sure Moonlord is far away from you, but not too far away otherwise he will teleport to you. 
 
5. Fly to the left direction if you want to damage the left hand, fly to the right if you want to damage the right hand. 
 
6. Try your best to dodge every attack, including the eye attack the Moonlord throws at you 
 
7. Kill the Moonlord hands ASAP, even though it will spawn True Eyes of Cthulhu 
 
8. If Moonlord shoots deathray, fly ABOVE the forehead-eye and whip the forehead-eye and try to do as much damage as possible. It is possible to kill it in three cycles. Rod of Discord away once the deathray has finished firing 
 
9. Once the Moonlord’s heart is exposed, try and stay as far away as possible, only going in certain intervals to damage the heart. If you are far away from Moonlord, his eyes and eye lasers will not reach you. Still, try and dodge the attacks with the Rod of Discord or Magic Mirror. 
 
 

Tips

 
1. If you get damaged from the eye attack, OR the phantasmal deathray, immediately heal, and run away from the Moonlord. You can recover from this. 
 
2. Do not rush the battle AT ALL. Your summons will do a lot of DPS. 
 
3. If you don’t have a Rod of Discord, you can use a Magic Mirror to the phantasmal deathray, or the eye attack 
 
4. The Laser attack is easy to dodge if you are far away from Moonlord 
 
5. The eye attack Moonlord throws at you is easy if you are above it 
 
6. Do not go too high in space, otherwise, you will take a lot of damage from attacks otherwise easy to dodge. 
 
7. If you do not think you should attack the forehead-eye do not attack it. 
 
8. If you want to damage the forehead-eye you can go closer to the Moonlord. 
 
9. You can whip each body part of Moonlord, but do it sparingly to dodge attacks. As a summoner you are VERY squishy.
