TL;DR: The Destroyer is a boss in Terraria, and this guide is for mages who are wishing to defeat it.

The Destroyer is an early-Hardmode boss in Terraria, and is one of the three Mechanical Bosses in the game. It is required that this boss is defeated in order to beat the game. It is spawned by using a Mechanical Worm, which can be crafted using 6 Souls of Night, 5 Iron’Lead Bars, and 6 Rotten Chunks/Vertebrae, or it has a 1/2500 (0.04%) chance of being dropped by any enemy in the game, with a few exceptions. The boss may also spawn at 8:51 pm game hours, with a message saying “You feel vibrations from deep below…” at 7:30 pm in game hours the same night, or 81 real time seconds prior. This is likely the first boss you will beat in the game after you activate Hardmode, so this boss may be a little bit intimidating the first time, so I created this guide to help you. Now, if you are not a mage, or don’t plan on being a mage in Terraria, then this guide is not for you, and I would suggest you find another guide for the class you use or plan on using. However, if you are a mage, or plan on being a mage, then you have come to the right place. With help from this guide, you should be able to defeat The Destroyer very easily.

Notice

Before I begin, I should tell you that if you are unfamiliar with a term used in this guide, or just unaware of how to go about obtaining an item listed, then I suggest going to the Terraria Wiki http://(terraria.fandom.com) for help with those terms. This guide was also developed based on my experiences on a classic world, so I cannot guarantee how effective this will be on an expert or master world. Without further ado, lets get started.

Arena

I recommend using an arena consisting of about 7-9 rows of 200-250 block wide wooden platforms with 3-5 spaces in between, with a campfire in the middle. It doesn’t matter if you choose to enclose the sides and bottom, but the top must be left open for the plan I am laying out. I would also recommend that the bottom not be enclosed so you can damage The Destroyer if it goes below the arena, but this is not a necessity. You could also use just a line of wooden blocks of about the same length with a campfire in the middle and 30+ spaces under it, which is what I personally used, but you may find the arena I have laid out more conventional for you. I would think you could also use a really flat stretch of land if you don’t want to build an arena, but the arena may be easier for you to use.

Items You Will Need

Required Items

– 30+ Greater Mana Potions
– 5+ Greater Healing Potions
– 1 Ironskin Potion
– 1 Regeneration Potion
– 1 Magic Power Potion
– 1 Mana Regeneration Potion
– Meteor Staff (Preferably with a good modifier)
– Mana Cloak (Can be subbed for Mana Flower, Arcane Flower, or Magnet Flower)
– Any Pair of Wings
– Pair of Titanium or Adamantite Armor (with Headgear)

Optional Items (Not needed, but are not a bad idea to have)

– 1 Endurance Potion
– 1 Lifeforce Potion
– 1 Cooked Fish
– Crystal Ball
– Charm of Myths
– Celestial Magnet
– Honey Comb
– Terraspark Boots
– Sorcerer Emblem
– Moon Charm

Note: Not all accessories can be equipped, so on the optional ones if you choose to use them, prioritize what sounds like you would be best with. Out of those, I personally used the Charm of Myths, Honey Comb, and Terraspark Boots, but I do not think they are so important as to where they are a necessity. I also used a Crystal Ball and Lifeforce Potion. For the accessories, I would recommend if possible to have defense modifiers, or defense modifiers with 1 Arcane modifier.

The Fight

The fight is very simple. with your accessories and armor equipped, spawn The Destroyer and activate your buffs (tip: use the b button on your computer to activate them all at once, with the exception of the Crystal Ball buff), or wait until he spawns. The Meteor Staff is the only weapon you’ll need, so spam that on The Destroyer, occasionally resting o let the Mana Sickness debuff expire if it gets too long and let your mana regenerate. Try to avoid getting hit, and if your health gets too low, use a healing potion (tip: the h button on your computer drinks the potion automatically). The Destroyer has to be killed by dawn, which is 4:30 am in game hours, but this shouldn’t be a problem with this guide, as he should die before 12:00 am in game hours with this guide.

Conclusion

The Destroyer is probably the easiest boss out of the 3 Mechanical Bosses, and the easiest in Hardmode. This is why this is a good boss to fight first out of the three. I hoped this guide has helped you defeat The Destroyer, and improve as a player.
