Terra Invicta – Nation Interact Stats Guide 1 - steamlists.com

This guide will explain how the different Priorities and Stats of a Nation interact.

The Guide is still in development. I wrote it mainly to figure things out myself.

GDP

High values affect:

– Increase the number of control points

– Increased difficulty in all hostil operations

– Research Output

– Number of investment points

– worsens Climate Change

It is easier to list things that are not directly affected by it, directly and indirectly.

Increased by:

– High Population

– High Per Capita Income

Decreased by:

– High Unrest

Climate Change

– Wars, even though you are not a combatant

– Nuclear Detonations even if you are not being hit by them

– GDP growth in other countries

Strategy:

This is perhaps the most important stat for any nation, large or small.

You, the owner, want it to be as high as possible.

You want to be an enemy of the owner and tank it. This will make it easier for the nation to attack you and reduce your enemy's resources to attack you.

Even if you are neutral, you might not want it to go high as any increase in GDP of other countries will likely be detrimental to your GDP.

Unrest

High Value Affects:

– Lowers Investment Points from Economy by 10% every 1 point above 2.

Research – Lowers

– lowers defense against Hostile Actions

– May cause a coup not aligned to any faction

– Values >0 directly lower the effectiveness of Military Investment

– 4 Represents Strife. 5 a Guerilla War. 6 a Guerilla War. 8 a Rising. 9 an open Civil War.

Increased by:

– Cohesion below 5, especially near 0,

Decreased by:

– Investment in Military, Especially in Autocracies

– Cohesion above 5

Strategy:

A core stat that is essential for keeping or taking a country.

This is the ideal price for an owner. Anything beyond 2 will result in you losing Investment Points and making your Priorities less effective. You only need to spend investment points to lower it if the Rest value is 1. This unrest could be temporary, however.

– This is a good place to be an enemy, as it makes it easier for you to take over the nation with a Coup. It also makes it easier for the nation to be taken by an agent in the next Phase*. The Economic Damage from high Unrest is not to be ignored. This pushes the country to its limits and poses a high risk of destroying it.

*I am reminded by this quote
Order of the Stick – [giantitp.com]

:

"I came to the Western Continent because I was enticed by stories about how easy it was for me to conquer a kingdom of my own.

However, the tales did not mention how easy it was for a kingdom to fall apart. I didn't last one year."

Score for the Government

This value can be both high or low depending on your goals for the Nation.

The middle value is always good.

High Values:

Democracies that work

– Caused by Investment in Knowledge

Priority: Better Economy

– Target decreases Spoils

– Pushes cohesion towards 5, stable rest point

Low Values:

– Autocracies

– Investment into Unity causes a rise in symbiosis

Spoils increase the value

– Pushes cohesion towards 10, which is the maximum

Military Investments Lead to Better Unrest Reduction

– Imposes a severe "Censorship” penalty on Public Campaigns, unless the user has at minimum 1 control point

Strategy:

This value should be at the extremes.

– Democracy is more effective for a Science Focused nation with a good Education and a cohesion dragging towards 5.

Autocracy creates an inbuilt cohesion that makes unrest less likely and makes you more resistant to public campaigns. The Spoils Target is a problem if cohesion is not at the top.

The middle value of Anocracy dramatically reduces cohesion. It is therefore mandatory to choose between the extremes and avoid falling out of them.

Spoilers Target

This is a very important value that is often overlooked.

High Values

– Increase the number of Investment points that must be funneled into Spoils

– Spoils are more vulnerable to Coups if there is insufficient investment

– Spoil investment also increases Climate Change, decreases Equality and increases the spoils target, pushing the government towards Authoritarianism

Increased by:

– Running the Spoils Priority

Decerased by:

– Extremely high (Autocracy level) cohesion

Education and Democracy

Strategy:

High Spoils targets are, in general, the foe of all.

It is your responsibility to address it. Investing in the wrong way can make the problem worse. It will cause more climate change and affect everyone's GDP. This will also cost you a large portion of your investment points.

It is the enemy of the owner and can still increase Climate Change and therefore affect your GDP.

It can be used to quickly obtain money or push a country towards autocracy with the hope that high cohesion will solve its problems long-term. If the plan is to give away control points and limit the possibility of another Faction grabbing them, it can be used to "salt" the land. Climate Change will only get worse if it is not fought by the new owner.

Points of Investment

High Value affects:

How valuable is each priority point?

Increased by:

– GDP

Decreased by:

Everything that lowers GDP

– Unrest can threaten the production of almost all of it.

– Having Armies

– Deploying armies outside of their home region

– Having navies

Strategy:

This value should be high. The higher the value, the better. This will make your priorities more powerful. This value can be increased by doing things that increase GDP, which may require some compromises.

Funding

Increases:

– The amount of money your Faction can earn from the Nation's economy

Increased by:

*Funding Priority

– Having more control points

Priority: Spoils

*This increase is permanent. Nation with more than 1 Control Point typically receive 1 Level of funding per CP. They are highly sought-after because of this.

Decreased by:

– Having Control Points Under Crackdown

If nothing has been invested, the default value is 0.
