How to navigate and modify your Terra Invicta Saves. This is all basic, and I don’t know how long this will last.

Where can I save?

Your save can usually be found at

(Drive usually C):\Users\(You)\Documents\My Games\TerraInvicta\Saves

This folder contains all saved files.

It must be an uncompressed save file. This is because the game’s setting can be changed in-game. Also, saves between disabled and enabled states cannot be carried over. (No, your saves have not been lost. You just need to toggle the save file compression) – will verify

If you don’t need the storage, it is best to leave file uncompressed.

How to navigate your savings.

Most file editing software should be compatible. I have used Notepad++ without any issues and have never had any problems.

Once we are in our savings, we can begin to look around. This is scary because even (-ish) saves may have over 350,000 lines. And save files get larger. The save I have been testing has just shy of 400,000.

We’ll need to get to know the find tool and be specific about what we search for. No point in searching for research as it’s not an attribute to all attributes: nation, operatives, org, hab. I forgot some more, (will check it and add more later). Instead, we can search for a particular tech. In my case, I wanted the Deep System Skywatch to progress faster since the completion triggers would have impacted my Academy game timings.

The devs seem to have decided to remove spaces between words instead of using underscores. If you want to search Deep System Skywatch, you can search for “DeepSystemSkywatch” (capitalization doesn’t matter as much). Most entities in the game are referred by a number. My faction was assigned 4444 in my case. Uniquely named items can determine what our faction is called and other mysteries. If we know the names of all those who have contributed to research projects worldwide, we can determine which factions are assigned the values.

Important note: The game can be run while we edit the save. This is because we are editing the save, not the current game state. It can make it easier to check values if both your game and your open save file windows are open.

Now that I have mastered the art of navigating this mess, what are my next steps?

It’s up to each of you. I decided to change the completion time for my research project so I changed the project’s values. Edit your operator or org stats (. Make sure it’s your op/org. Or maybe you want to change) from (not available to (.

Editing States (Countries/Nations)

Oh no, not one of your control points has to be on crackdown! Don’t Worry, Modern technology allows us to rebuild. We can fix it.

I will soon have pictures to show you.

A few things can be changed in the save file for a country.

Things are changing Where/How to look
COUNTRY-level economic data You can search by country name until your find

“templateName”: “NAT“,

“displayName”: “NATION“,

“$type”: “PavonisInteractive.TerraInvicta.TINationState”

For your country, the data is ABOVE (JSON). Here you can change investment points and research miltech level, etc. Stats for the whole country.

CONTROL POINT level stats You can search by country name until your find

“templateName”: “NAT“,

“displayName”: “NATION (CONTROL POINT TYPE)”,

“$type”: “PavonisInteractive.TerraInvicta.TIControlPoint”

Information is always above this, but we can change who controls the control points, such as whether they are defended and how long, as well as whether crackdown is being used. (Be careful when changing the status of defended/crackdown as there are some lines between them.

will get pic

).

You can change the AI’s behavior at a specific control point by changing the values between 0 and 3 for the respective stats (. However, it is not possible to predict if the AI will immediately change after reloading save).

WIP

This is all I have right now. It’s not much more than the basics. As time passes, I’ll add more information. Perhaps one day, there will be a mod that makes this redundant (. In which case yay, I don’t have anymore to worry about it and everyone’s lives become easier)

Thank you for reading and I hope you learned something.
