This guide provides a quick overview of the alien threat level. It can be used as early game tips to help those struggling with aliens or when they unintentionally aggrove them too early.

The Intel Page

The Intel page is your friend and best friend when it involves aliens. It is located right next to Research.

Click on it to be taken to the factions page with several buttons. This is the Intel page's Aliens tab. It is the first button on the Intel Page.

Alien Threat

Five colored dots indicate the Alien threat at the top left of the Alien tab on the Intel page. It is called " Estimated Alien Threat level"

The picture shows 4 of the 5 colored dots. Although these dots were not originally colored, once they are attracted to their attention, each dot will turn a color to indicate the threat level.

An artificial cap for your Mission Control is the best way to trigger an alien reaction. You will need to expand your Mission Control more often. However, you can't increase it beyond 90 mission control. This is the base value at the point that the Aliens will begin moving against you.

I use the term base value because you can unlock research that allows for you to increase the cap, as shown in the image below.

Before unlocking and researching the technology (, and the ones following it), if you reach 90 Mission Control, the threat level will rise to maximum and the aliens attack you.

There are 2 other ways to get an alien response in addition to the artificial cap.

  • Constant actions against the servants
  • Direct attacks on Alien ships

1 – Constant actions against Servants

The aliens will be pissed off by actions against the Servants. This does not include Councilor missions like Detaining and Tech stealing, Tech Sabotage, and Org theft.

The aliens will be slightly annoyed if they are forced to reduce their control points. How much I'm afraid I'm not sure. It doesn't seem that the first 4-5 years of this game have any significant effects on it, so it could be a slow increase.

The same applies to Purging control points. It doesn't seem that it has much effect in the early game, but it does seem to anger them more as you get closer to mid-game (2030s). It is best to ensure that the Servants do not have any Major Nations under their control by that time.

While constant assassinations will increase the likelihood of a response, direct (military) actions toward CPs they control can increase the threat level. You will attract more Aliens attention if you declare war on territories they control and flip them over to you through military actions.

This message is displayed in the left-hand side of the screen by a councilor. It's easy to miss. You should know that the more you take military action against their CPs, the closer you are to increasing the threat level.

2 – Direct Attacks on Alien Ships

This is obvious. You don't want to fight them in the early to mid-game. This means that you should not send fleets to engage theirs, nor build your ships in Earth orbit where aliens could "accidentally" land on yours and start fighting. According to what I learned recently, they only need to start an engagement, evade, or leave combat after that. Your threat level will increase by 2 or more points.

Based on what other members have shared and what I discovered, the best solution to your Shipyard station is to build it in Lagrange Point.

You won't be at risk of other Factions trying flip your station over to their side, and you won’t have any "accidental encounters" with alien fleets.

Updated to reflect updated information that was confirmed by other players in (3-4 October)

Councilor missions (story mission spoiler)

Although I have already mentioned the artificial cap in the previous section, this point is still worth noting.

This is a spoiler about the story. I won't go into the details of the missions.

There are two story missions you will need to complete. One will require you to kill an alien agent, the other will require you to detain one. These agents often spawn near alien encounters, so you will need to use the "Investigate Councilor” task to find them.

You will be able interact with alien agents from this point, but I do not recommend it unless you are required to by a story mission. I have found that if you mess with their agents too often, it can trigger a response even though you haven’t reached the artificial limit.

Alien aggro

If you have aggroed the aliens to quickly, the only thing you can do it nothing.

Let them destroy your stuff, then let the threat level fall and then rebuild. It's not easy, but it's the best solution. They out-tech your abilities, so it's a losing battle to even try to fight them.

Conclusion

Keep an eye on the threat level.

Don't go crazy and grow beyond the Mission Cap. Instead, plan where you want your fleet to expand and how large it should be. Don't attack the alien fleet too early, it's a death sentence.
