It seems that each chapter starts with a unique character. If that character is already available, it will roll a rare instead. If there are any uniques left, the bazaar shops will always have a unique and a dragon (. However, this may not be true for the first bazaar in chapter 3.

Although the Zweihander is not particularly unique, he does start as a Loyal rather than Mercenary.
 
 
 

Slayer Alphonse

 
 
Alphonse's absurd strength score was (100+ when he was hired early in the campaign). Given his theme, I would like to change him to a Greatbow with Ataraxia, Dragonslayer, and Fang Of Duros, and let him solo dragons.

Straightforward, a great early hire.

Three defensive traits are the default, and the name is accurate.
 
 
 

Sir Rolante

 
 
Cheap, but questionable. Why does he have water affinity? He will be outperformed by most generic knights. You already have a knight captain at Baramas.
 
 
 

Lady Clarimonde

 
 
Amazing traits and stats. She is a tank, healer, as well as a bit of damage.
 
 
 

Calvor the Tireless

 
 
I like rangers but this guy doesn't add anything to the table.
 
 
 

Cutthroat Klok

 
 
These are great traits for an assassin. However, his incredible magic stat begs for being used for something.
 
 
 

Deadeye Domak

 
 
He is a skilled archer and it might be worth his switching to assassin.
 
 
 

Teriq the Wicked

 
 
Good traits to begin with.
 
 
 

Matriarch Rosalie

 
 
She's amazing if you get her in time, but otherwise she kind of falls in line.
 
 
 

Centhos the Muse

 
 
As an acolyte. I often make him a fire mage because there is no fire mage unique to him. He doesn't start with treasure hunters (. I've added that here. Please ignore). He's a good leader of groups because his affinity is light.
 
 
 

Konrad the Cold

 
 
Excellent mage with Arcane Speed default.
 
 
 

The Outcast

 
 
This magic stat is more impressive than any other unit I have ever seen.
 
 
 

Kaffi the Curious

 
 
Arcane Barrier was also added to this area. She can only start with Lucky and Unassuming. She still has a high magic value.
 
 
 

Lt. Archibald

 
 
Lysander is the only way to get shock and awe. It's terrible stats, but it doesn't matter to a dragoon.
 
 
 

Cloudrender Athelis

 
 
Expensive, ~12000. It is one of the few flying units that you can access without having to go all the way up the tech tree. Huge strength. Low magic. Respectable traits. You pay for it, though.
 
 
 

Renalyn Steelheart

 
 
Her skill stat is very high. Her HP is not really in line with the front line. I would give her traits that are able to benefit from crits. She should crit all the times.
