The Youkol journal’s actual full translation/deciphering using the Youkol alphabet Latin alphabet equivalents.
Introduction
The following guide contains minor spoilers for the end of the game. If you haven’t finished the game, do so before continuing to read.
When reaching the Olympia stadium, the player is given a Youkol Journal. It can be translated by Kurk giving the solution for the local puzzles.
But Kurk’s translation isn’t actually what the text says. Each Youkol character actually corresponds to a Latin letter. This can be found using the proper nouns given in the text that have corresponding Youkol characters.
This is the full Youkol alphabet with its corresponding Latin alphabet :
It is then possible to translate the full journal. Some of the translations are quotes from the following movies, do not read if you do not want to be spoiled :
– Unbreakable
– Deep Blue Sea
– Pulp Fiction
– Jackie Brown

This text is written in French (first language of the developers). It means :
“This is place holder text that doesn’t have any other meaning than to take”
“I do not know what to writ (sic) so I am going to act as if what I’m saying is interesting and without spelling mistakes, all this without loking (sic)”

More French :
“I do not know what to write O (sic) should take lorem ipsums on the internet but I don’t feel like doing so even if I have good refs”
English Text
“Do not worry. We will do our best to ship another Syberia in less than fifteen years”

Slipsum.com – [Slipsum.com] is a Lorem Ipsum generator that only uses Samuel L. Jackson quotes from his films. Which explains the obsession over Unbreakable and such.
Conclusion
No great reveals unfortunately came from this deciphering, except that it can be pretty boring to be a game dev intern. And that you should never, ever, put Place Holder in a game if you’re not sure that it will be replaced later.
Well, actually, it is quite funny to find this now, so, that’s OK.
Hope this will be of use to others and that it will save others time if they ever get the crazy idea to try and translate this nonsense.
Also, (spoiler for a puzzle) don’t know if that is supposed to make any sense but the password to the chair means : IFRITU
Which might be a Final Fantasy reference. Or something else. Or nothing.
